• Cake and Cupcakes Blog hop

Welcome to the Moda All-Stars Mix-it-up blog hop! The Moda All-Stars have been sewing away with cake and cupcakes, and it’s so much fun!  When Martingale asked us to create a quilt using either Cake or Cupcake papers, I didn’t hesitate.  I love these papers!  They make piecing a quilt so easy. Of course, they remind me of my favorite treat, cupcakes!  Who can resist a few of these while you sew?  Here’s a little tip: Buy some cake or cupcakes for your family before you start sewing with these papers, and they will be encouraging you to stitch away! Now, the end result of all our mixing and stitching…

  • Block Ten Merry Merry Snow Days

Welcome to the final block of Merry Merry Snow Days!  It should feel so good to have this quilt almost complete, and you’ll have time to get it quilted for the holiday season! We’re off to the races, and our llama is ready!  He’s registered for the race and wearing his number proudly, His ski goggles are protecting those llama eyes from any brightness or flying snow.  Goodness knows the snow will fly once he takes off. Let’s start by cutting and sewing the backgrounds together. Once you have that done, we can move onto the llama. Prepare the applique for the llama and assemble the pieces on top of…

  • Block Nine Merry Merry Snow Days

Every block in my Merry Merry Snow Days quilt has a story, and block nine is no exception.  This little snowgirl (You knew she was a girl when you saw her pink collar, right?) went out into the woods to pick out a Christmas tree for the cabin in block four!  Thank goodness she found one already bundled and ready to go.  All she had to do was put it on the sleigh.  Now she can push it up to the cabin, and I’m sure someone will be there to help her inside with it. The tree will look so pretty in the window.   Ok, let’s start block nine…

  • Subaru National Adopt A Dog Day

There’s so much excitement at my house today!  Chelsea and Peanut watch all the Subaru ads, and they know today is their day!  It’s Subaru’s National Adopt A Dog Day, and they are both adopted!  If I owned a Subaru, I’d drive them to Petco with streamers and banners on my car to announce their special day.  Maybe it’s a good thing I don’t own one because Chelsea would insist on driving.  So, to celebrate, they’ll each get an extra treat, and Chelsea will get to wear her Pumpkin Hat. We adopted Peanut last September, so she’s been with us a year now.  What you may not know is that…

  • Mix it Up with Martingale and Moda!

It’s time for another Moda All-Stars book!  This time we’re sewing with Moda Cake Mixes and Cupcake Mixes!   It doesn’t get any sweeter than this!  I love sewing with these papers because they ensure you’ll have perfect piecing.  Just look at all the triangles and corners on the cover of the book!  Perfection! We usually stick to our own fabric lines for these designs, but this time we had free rein!  For me, this was a chance for shopping heaven!  I selected one of my favorite lines called “Return To Winter’s Lane” by Kate and Birdie. Here’s my “Frosty Days” quilt you’ll find on page 55 of “Mix it Up.”…
