• Prairie Days is coming!

I’m a country girl at heart! How about you? If you’re a country lover too, say hello to Prairie Days, my newest fabric line for Moda! It’s filled with calicos, gingham checks, and pillow ticking. In red, white, and blue, it’s my tribute to the USA.  These fabrics say “country,” and I hope you love them! I describe this fabric as “happy” because that’s how it makes me feel!  The colors are so pretty, and I’m still trying to choose my favorite print.  Right now, I’m leaning toward the red and white floral, but by tomorrow it could be the little sheep on blue.  Of course, I’m always partial to…

  • Waiting and Waiting

It seems like so long ago that I introduced you to Crystal Lane.  There’s always a long stretch of time between when we show you a new line and when the line actually arrives in shops.  For Crystal Lane, this stretch is longer than normal.  She’s been on schedule to arrive around the middle of April, but I’ve heard from Moda that she’s running about 4 to 6 weeks late. Because of Covid, there have been delays and backups at the ports. Crystal is waiting for her turn, and I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives. I think she’s in good company as most fabric lines are running…

  • it’s sewcialities day at bunny hill!

Are you doing the Sewcialities quilt along with The Fat Quarter Shop? There are some great blocks in this sew-along, and even if you don’t participate in the sew-along, I recommend printing them out and saving them in a binder.  You may want some of these in the future, and they come in 12″, 6″, and 3″ sizes.  Sampler style quilts are fun to make. I was having so much fun sewing away,  I made this block in all three sizes, 12″, 6″, and 3″!  The 6″ is always my preferred size block, but I’m also in love with the little 3″ size.  My block is named “Peace,” and I…

  • A bittersweet year

2020 was a bittersweet year.  So many things have changed for all of us this past year.   Did you ever think you’d be spending a holiday on a zoom call?  I could never have imagined this, and yet now it seems almost normal.  As I look around my studio, I realize my Bunny Hill lock-down partners have been affected by this virus too.  Bless their little hearts…   Tweety and Chelsea spend the day with me..  Tweety usually sleeps in a little drawer, and Chelsea in her heated donut bed.   And sometimes they switch beds just to change things up.     Chelsea is a social dog, so I…

  • Catching Up

Yesterday was another Moda deadline, and it feels good to cross it off my list.  We’ve been working on new designs for my next fabric line (the one coming after Crystal Lane).  Today I’m feeling a bit giddy because designs are finished, and we’ll be testing each one as we make them.  Since we’ve only worked with my new fabrics virtually on the computer, it will feel great to see them come alive in fabric!  Yardage arrived on Friday, so we’re going to be busy! I don’t know how cats can find a piece of fabric anywhere, but cat owners know they can!   I was cutting fat quarters from my…

  • Snow Birds, Freezy and Winter Wishes

When I began working on my Crystal Lane quilt, I researched “Winter” critters on Google.  I was looking for the ones that brave the cold, snow, and don’t mind a few icicles.  The ones that survive those freezing temps.  I found some pretty cute winter critters, but I fell in love when I saw the Snowy Owl. I can tell by looking at these owls they are very wise.  No bird brains here, so to speak. You’ll find a few of these owls on my Crystal Lane quilt.  I just couldn’t resist. Snow Birds I’ve also featured these owls on a mini quilt I’m calling Snow Birds. Snow Birds finishes…
