Sampler Spree Quilt-Along
It’s been one of those weeks and it’s only Wednesday!. I’ve been trying all week to get this post out, so I can tell you about the new quilt-along hosted by Moda Fabrics and Susan Ache. But, when you work from home you never know what things will interrupt your best intentions. So, let’s get right to it before I get interrupted again. Here’s what you need to know…the quilt-along starts TODAY! The quilt-along features Susan’s new book called Sampler Spree. You’ll need to purchase a copy of the book in order to participate (I have some copies on my website if you need one, or you can purchase from…

101 Maple Street, The Book!
I feel like a celebrity today. I just got my advance copy from Martingale of the new book I’ve done with them, 101 Maple Street! That’s right, 101 Maple Street is now in book format, and it is beautiful! No one does books like Martingale Publishing, and I am so proud to be a Martingale Author. I love how they made each block into a “chapter” of the book. So much better than saying block one, block two, etc., don’t you think? Here’s chapter 4: Out for a walk. I know many of you are saying to yourselves, “I can’t find the fabric anymore,” so you have to…

Pumpkin Hill
October is the month for squirrels and pumpkins, and Bunny Hill is filled with them. From Squirrelly Girl to my newest Martingale book, Pumpkin Hill, the squirrel overload is real! Pumpkin Hill, my first book with Martingale Publishing, is available at quilt shops and book stores now. With running squirrels, a pumpkin coach, acorns, and all things fall, Pumpkin Hill is a whimsical quilt to enjoy every season. The design is timeless, and the fabrics are easy to replicate. Martingale has created a book that’s as cute as the quilt. Page after page is filled with colorful photos and delightful artwork. The pattern page is a pull-out with full-size drawings.…

Cake and Cupcakes Blog hop
Welcome to the Moda All-Stars Mix-it-up blog hop! The Moda All-Stars have been sewing away with cake and cupcakes, and it’s so much fun! When Martingale asked us to create a quilt using either Cake or Cupcake papers, I didn’t hesitate. I love these papers! They make piecing a quilt so easy. Of course, they remind me of my favorite treat, cupcakes! Who can resist a few of these while you sew? Here’s a little tip: Buy some cake or cupcakes for your family before you start sewing with these papers, and they will be encouraging you to stitch away! Now, the end result of all our mixing and stitching…

Mix it Up with Martingale and Moda!
It’s time for another Moda All-Stars book! This time we’re sewing with Moda Cake Mixes and Cupcake Mixes! It doesn’t get any sweeter than this! I love sewing with these papers because they ensure you’ll have perfect piecing. Just look at all the triangles and corners on the cover of the book! Perfection! We usually stick to our own fabric lines for these designs, but this time we had free rein! For me, this was a chance for shopping heaven! I selected one of my favorite lines called “Return To Winter’s Lane” by Kate and Birdie. Here’s my “Frosty Days” quilt you’ll find on page 55 of “Mix it Up.”…

Staging Those On a Roll Quilts
Have you ever thought about what it takes to get those photos when you look at a quilt book? I think one of the hardest things to do is “stage” the photos. Think about it, for On-A Roll, there were 14 different Moda designers, 14 different quilts and 14 different styles. Each designer sent a quilt and Martingale had to pull them all together for the book. Thank goodness for the creative professionals that work there. They are the ones who deserve a thank you for making us look good! I think my favorite picture in the Moda All-Stars On a Roll book is the photo of the quilt by Janet Clare (page 46). …
