Sampler Spree Quilt-Along

It’s been one of those weeks and it’s only Wednesday!.  I’ve been trying all week to get this post out, so I can tell you about the new quilt-along hosted by Moda Fabrics and Susan Ache.  But, when you work from home you never know what things will interrupt your best intentions.   So, let’s get right to it before I get interrupted again.  Here’s what you need to know…the quilt-along starts TODAY!

The quilt-along features Susan’s new book called Sampler Spree. You’ll need to purchase a copy of the book in order to participate (I have some copies on my website if you need one, or you can purchase from Amazon).  The book has 100 quilt blocks, all 6″ in size.

You can follow this quilt-along on the Moda blogModa will feature 10 blocks from Susan’s book every Wednesday and Susan will give alternate layouts for the quilt, and of course, there will also be giveaways.  There’s also a FaceBook group you can join.  If you keep up with 10 blocks each week you can have this quilt completed in 10 weeks.

If you’re more like me, and you know you can’t keep up with 10 blocks a week, you can work at your own pace, and just have fun making blocks and picking fabrics.  I’m going to be pulling from my stash of 3 Sisters fabrics along with Brenda Riddle’s Sophie fabric line (Sophie is available in quilt shops now).  I love scrappy quilts and this is the perfect quilt for scraps.  My pace will probably be two or three blocks on weekends.  If you decide to join this quilt-along I’d love to see pictures of your blocks.  You can email them to me at info@bunnyhilldesigns.com.

Susan cut off the spine from her book and had it spiral bound at UPS.  I’ve also cut off the spine (used a rotary cutter and did it myself).  I’ve hole punched the pages and now keep my copy in a binder so I can easily flip through it as I decide what blocks to make.

Susan was just featured in the June issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.

If you have that issue, be sure and check out her studio!   She is a talented designer, and I love the way she decorates (I took these pictures right off her Instagram page).

This quilt-along should be fun!  I know there are a lot of these out there right now, so pick and choose your favorites.  Moda has a list of all the upcoming quilt-alongs on their website.

Happy Sewing!

Anne
