• Red & White

Remember when the Red & White Quilt Exhibit was in New York?  If you were lucky enough to attend, I’m envious.  That was something I think all of us wanted to see.  The pictures, blog posts and stories from that event were wonderful. Finally, thanks to the American Folk Art Museum, we can all visit and enjoy those wonderful quilts while sitting in a comfy chair enjoying a cup of tea in our own home. I pre-ordered my copy of this book from Amazon yesterday.  The release date is September 22nd and if you have Amazon Prime you get free shipping!  650 red and white quilts, can you imagine?  I…

  • Have you seen this book?

Have you seen the book called “The 1718 Coverlet” by Susan Briscoe?  It’s not published yet, but you can pre-order one from Amazon.  They start shipping on August 19th and this is one of those books I think you’ll want! I fell in love with this quilt the minute I saw it.   The original quilt was reconstructed with the help of The Quilter’s Guild and both the original and the reconstructed quilt will be on display in Britain from September 5th through December 13th.  It would be worth the trip just to see this quilt! You can read all about the quilt on Amazon or Facebook.  Be sure and…

  • Stitch Zakka

Sneaky thing I did yesterday,  having you leave comments telling me what books you’re reading.  It never fails, every time I ask you about books, I come up with new ones to read!  It’s so great how this thing called blogging works!   As promised, I picked two of you to win a copy of “Stitch Zakka”.  This is such a great book, filled with so many talented designers and great projects.  Here are the winners: 1.  Susan Vicary:  who wrote, “We have so many of the same books..must have started quilting about the same time.  I’m reading A Single Thread by Marie Bostwick..involves a quilt shop of course.  I…

  • National Book Lover’s Day!

Finally,  a day for us…the book lovers of the world!   You know who you are!  You get lost in Barnes and Noble and forget the time.  Sometimes you buy a book you can’t resist, only to find out when you get home that you already have it.  You curl up with a good book every chance you get, and I bet you’ve even been known to read while you’re cooking dinner. I love books so much, I turned our Living Room into a library!  Bookcases line each side of the room, and comfy chairs are tucked into in each corner. You’ll find everything in my library from the book…

  • On My Reading List

I’ve had a really good weekend!    I finally got to watch the first few shows of Project Runway, Season 12.  I normally watch “drama” shows such as  “Suits”, “Covert Affairs”, “The Good Wife”, “The Mentalist”,” Elementary” etc. but I’m putting Project Runway right at the top with the rest of them!  Don’t know how I got into watching this show, but once I did I was hooked.  I record almost all of the shows I like, so I can watch them on weekends while I stitch or sew.  Are you hooked like me? At night I like to read a good book, and on my reading list now is…

  • “S is for Stitch” Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to the “S is for Stitch” blog hop!  I’ve been lucky enough to receive a copy of this book and I’ve had so much fun looking through all the embroidery projects.  If you love embroidery, you’ll love this book! Kristyne over at Pretty By Hand, is the author of S is for Stitch.  It’s her first book and it’s so cute!  It’s perfect for beginners, teens, tweens, and everyone!   With embroidery designs for girls or boys she’s right up my alley.  S is for Stitch has 2 alphabets, along with embroideries for each.  A is for Angel…or maybe an ant.  Are you a ballerina or is baseball…
