Waiting and Waiting

It seems like so long ago that I introduced you to Crystal Lane.  There’s always a long stretch of time between when we show you a new line and when the line actually arrives in shops.  For Crystal Lane, this stretch is longer than normal.  She’s been on schedule to arrive around the middle of April, but I’ve heard from Moda that she’s running about 4 to 6 weeks late.

Because of Covid, there have been delays and backups at the ports. Crystal is waiting for her turn, and I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives. I think she’s in good company as most fabric lines are running late. They will all catch up at some point, but it’s out of everyone’s control for now.

Crystal Lane was such a fun line to play with.  Once I submitted it to Moda, and it was in the schedule,  I couldn’t stop designing with this fabric.  There’s something about blue and white that is so refreshing and fun!  You can tell in the photo below that I’m a pink girl (yes, I do have a lot of pink storage boxes), but I was more than happy to make room for Crystal’s blue and white.  If I’d had more time, I could have come up with more and more things to make with Crystal Lane.  It’s a good thing there are catalog deadlines that we have to meet.

There’s a box of Crystal Lane scraps from Moda sitting in my garage right now, just waiting to be bagged up.  So, while we’re waiting for Crystal Lane to arrive, I’ll make myself drag them out, and I’ll bag them.  I’ll let you know when I have them on our website.

Oh, and you see some of the goodies on my cutting table?  Let’s do a giveaway for a chance to win some of them!  Charm squares, a layer cake, a honey bun, and even that fat quarter bundle.  And, if you are the winner of the Crystal Lane Honey Bun, I’ll include one of the panels from this line so you can start making the Wintertime quilt below.

All you have to do to be entered in my giveaway is tell me what type of pre-cut you “go to” the most and why.  Is it a mini charm, charm pack, layer cake, fat eighth bundle, fat quarter bundle, or maybe Moda’s new hexie package?

So check back right here on this blog post, Thursday morning, April 1st, to see if you’re a winner!

Fat quarters are my first choice–not too much fabric, but enough to make something I would like, even if I can’t get more!

I love a layer cake with some yardage for borders.  They’re great for applique as well as pieced quilts.  Your fabric is beautiful

I love the Crystal Lane fabric.  I prefer fat quarters as you can do more things with them.  I really like the clean lines of the blue and white.

  • Connie Morgan

I almost always go for layer cakes.  I love the cake mix papers and layer cakes give you a chance to get an entire collection with big enough pieces to make something a bit larger.  If I really love a collection, I go all out for the fat quarter bundle, and once in a great while I will get a half yard bundle.  I’m loving the blue and white of your Crystal Lane collection and know a fat quarter bundle will be a definite purchase.  Thanks for the chance to win!

My go to precut is a charm pack. I have made four table runners using them. I like the variety the packs provide.

I love love love fat quarter bundles.  They have so many options.  And I do believe that Crystal Lake is the best line ever.  Blues are so calming.  I can’t wait for my kit to arrive.

  • Bambi Roberts

There is no doubt Crystal Lane will be worth the wait! My favorite precut is a fat quarter bundle — although they look so pretty I hate to break them open.

  • Cheryl

I usually go to fat quarter bundles the most – as I find them the most flexible.  But I have such a collection of charm packs that I really need to make more with those cuts.

  • Carmen Vasquez

I like charm packs and even mini charms because I’m getting to the point where I want to make smaller items that I can display on the wall. Also, the charm packs are perfect for quick and easy baby quilts.

  • Jean Gamble

Actually I have 2. Fat quarters and layer cakes.  But I have a little of all.  Such a great quilt it goes with the colors at home. Love all that you have done.

  • Gina Growe

My go to favorite is a bundle so I have a little bit of everything and it’s easier to subcutaneous than yardage. I buy yardage of my favorites from the line – win win!  Thank you for a chance at winning your Crystal line, she is gorgeous.

Oh my, how pretty is the blue and white log cabin you put together!! My favorite is a charm pack for all the different prints in the line. Who doesn’t absolutely love blue and white!!

  • Mary Chevalier

Fat Quarters,..It  makes it so much easier to make a quilt,When you know you already have your color picked out for you.

  • Toni Anne Potter

Your fabric lines never disappoint. My favorite precut is the jelly roll. One of my favorite blocks is the log cabin block jelly rolls are wonderful for that. I also enjoy the handwork of English paper piecing hexagons, which are perfect for leftover jelly roll scraps. I can’t wait until your Crystal Lane fabrics are delivered to quilt shops.

  • Marsha Smith

Layer cakes are my #1fav because I piece and applique most of the things I make, they give me a sample of the entire line and I can then go back and order yardage of the SKUs I absolutely adore.

  • Lynne Deering

    Wendy,
I love fat quarters for the wonderful choices of color and pattern.  If I love a fabric I will buy yardage.  Thanks for the offer.

Lovely fabrics  My go-to is either a jelly roll or a charm pack. I find both to be so versatile and easy to work with. A jelly rolls works  up quickly into an easy quilt that takes no planning at all. Is this how to enter the Give-away as I did not see any other link.

  • Shirley

I love layer cakes.  Gives me enough to make a great quilt, and is really 4 charm packs in one.  Thank you for the opportunity to win a awesome give-a-way.

  • Pat C.

I haven’t used pre-cuts yet although I do have a jelly roll in my sewing room waiting to be started.  Your line is absolutely exquisite!

  • Jean Roark-Ternes

Lately, I have been going through a lot of jelly rolls.  I make t-shirt and memory quilts and I like to use the jelly rolls to “frame” the “memory”!

  • Kaye

I love fat quarters. I paper piece mini quilts. Fat quarters give me the versatility I need for cutting a paper pieced section, especially when I fussy cut. Those little paper piecing pattern pieces are bigger than you think once you allow for 1/4″ seam along each side. Fat quarters also provide plenty of fabric for backings and bindings on my minis. Thanks for your beautiful Crystal Lane collection. The line has a perfect blend of lights, mediums, darks.

  • Erin French

I use fat eighths and fat quarters mainly but this fabric is so beautiful, I would be honored to win any of the available fabric.
    Thank you, Erin

  • Angela Adams

I usually gravitate towards a fat quarter bundle.  Love this new line, especially the honey bun and panel quilt. So cute!!

  • Debby Krzyston

Your new fabrics are beautiful and cute!  I usually purchase Charm packs, they’re more affordable for my limited budget.  This way I have a few small pieces to use in a small quilt or wall hanging.

  • Kathy Oppelt

I guess I’d have to say layer cake – but only because it is less $ and takes up less room than a fat quarter bundle!

  • Susan

Can’t wait for Crystal Lane pre-ordered kit, such a fan of your appliqué designs. I have a new granddaughter on the way so will need to start on new baby quilt from Bunny Hill. 💗
