Waiting and Waiting

It seems like so long ago that I introduced you to Crystal Lane.  There’s always a long stretch of time between when we show you a new line and when the line actually arrives in shops.  For Crystal Lane, this stretch is longer than normal.  She’s been on schedule to arrive around the middle of April, but I’ve heard from Moda that she’s running about 4 to 6 weeks late.

Because of Covid, there have been delays and backups at the ports. Crystal is waiting for her turn, and I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives. I think she’s in good company as most fabric lines are running late. They will all catch up at some point, but it’s out of everyone’s control for now.

Crystal Lane was such a fun line to play with.  Once I submitted it to Moda, and it was in the schedule,  I couldn’t stop designing with this fabric.  There’s something about blue and white that is so refreshing and fun!  You can tell in the photo below that I’m a pink girl (yes, I do have a lot of pink storage boxes), but I was more than happy to make room for Crystal’s blue and white.  If I’d had more time, I could have come up with more and more things to make with Crystal Lane.  It’s a good thing there are catalog deadlines that we have to meet.

There’s a box of Crystal Lane scraps from Moda sitting in my garage right now, just waiting to be bagged up.  So, while we’re waiting for Crystal Lane to arrive, I’ll make myself drag them out, and I’ll bag them.  I’ll let you know when I have them on our website.

Oh, and you see some of the goodies on my cutting table?  Let’s do a giveaway for a chance to win some of them!  Charm squares, a layer cake, a honey bun, and even that fat quarter bundle.  And, if you are the winner of the Crystal Lane Honey Bun, I’ll include one of the panels from this line so you can start making the Wintertime quilt below.

All you have to do to be entered in my giveaway is tell me what type of pre-cut you “go to” the most and why.  Is it a mini charm, charm pack, layer cake, fat eighth bundle, fat quarter bundle, or maybe Moda’s new hexie package?

So check back right here on this blog post, Thursday morning, April 1st, to see if you’re a winner!

My favorite is the layer cakes.  There is enough of each color to spread around in a quilt!  And if there is a design – a snowman, etc. you will get at least one whole snowman.  I hate when I get a charm pack, and the head of the cat is cut off!

  • Libby

What a wonderful new fabric collection,  cute panel….My favorite precut is the FAT QUARTER BUNDLE….  There is so much you can do with one for a project and almost always enough for a small project or two.

  • Katherine

Crystal Lake is simply gorgeaous and well worth the extra wait.  Because I love to do applique,  Fat quarters are far and away my favorite choice for a pre-cut.  I know I will have plenty of fabric for larger shapes and enough for a quilt with multiple applique blocks.

  • Patti

I love fat quarters but they are usually out of my price range. Next best choice is a layer cake! They give you so much fabric at an affordable price!

  • Betty Clark

I love fat quarters the most. I have more choices this way for a quilt. I also love blue and white quilts. Looking forward to Crystal Lane and your patterns for this line.

  • Ann

I have to say my go to precut is a fat quarter bundle. You get so much fabric in the bundle. But I am willing to take any precut you have. 😀 Thanks for the chance to win.

  • Debbie Roberts

My go to pre-cut is a fat quarter bundle when I don’t know what I am using it for.  Give me the most options!!

  • Sandra

Fat Quarter bundles are so versatile and can use a variety of patterns including Jelly Roll!  Almost always you will have enough fabric to make two lap quilts 🧵

  • Dee

This line looks wonderful! Blue and White is my natural go-to. I usually buy fat quarters or jelly rolls. Jelly rolls are so versatile to use as lengths or as squares…so, I’d have to say, jelly rolls are my favorites. Thank you for your well-done blogs.

  • Lisann Durm

This is such a beautiful line of fabric. I like fat quarters and layer cakes. I am able to do more with these and they give you a lot of versatility. Thank you for such a fun giveaway.

  • Robbin

I usually buy a charm pack then regret it because I have the worst time finding something to make with them.  So I let them sit and pet them occasionally.  Crystal Lane is so pretty!  Good things are worth the wait.

First of all, I love the Crystal Lane collection. I started out buying mostly charm packs, then moved to layer cakes. I have a few fat quarters of collections I love the most. I tend to buy more charm packs now, because they’re just right for hexies and I’m hooked on hexies. Thank you for the chance to win some gorgeous fabric!

  • Nicole Mays

My go to precut is a fat eighth bundle because it’s a good amount of fabric that you can do quite a bit with. Next I like a layer cake. Haven’t tried the hexies yet but have a set on preorder. Looking forward to your new line. Blue is my favorite color.

  • Patricia Godkin

    I generally use Fatquarter bundles.
The new precut hexies are great, there is a product I found called EPP fusibles by Hugs n Kisses quilt shop.
    Just iron on!

  • Judi Reiss

I love whenever there is is new Bunny Hill collection.  I love getting fat quarters as I have a super pattern for babies that is fat quarter fiendly.  With anew grandson (1st boy after 6 granddaughters, this will be perfect for his quilt.

  • Annette

Bunny, I have only purchased one pre cut, a fat quarter bundle, but I’m sure I would love any of them. I hope to try hexie’s in the future, so I look forward to seeing them on the market. The layer cake precut looks as if you could use it in a variety of ways. That will probably be my next purchase of a precut.

  • mimisdarlins

You know I love pink.  But I’ve always loved blue too, and was so excited to see this line from you.  Thank you for the great giveaway opportunity!  Oh, and though I’ve never met a precut I didn’t like, I think fat quarters have always been my go-to :)

  • Judy Boyle

I love the charm pack with all the coordinated fabrics. It makes it so easy to make a beautiful quilt knowing the fabrics all compliment each other.

  • Marsha B

I enjoy using Layer Cakes to add variety and they are large enough I can get lots of pieces cut from them!  This fabric is gorgeous, I love blue and white.

  • Linda Goulty

At the moment I like layer cakes, you get such a variety at a reasonable price, I also like charm packs but I feel layer cakes just give you more flexibility with cutting .   Thanks for the chance.

  • Judy

This is a lovely collection! The color range of blues is perfect. My favorite precut is a layer cake. It always amazes me how many quilt blocks can be made with one layer cake. Thank you for a chance to win.

  • Ellen Elmore

The fat quarter bundle is my favorite because there is enough go make several blocks and the color family always goes together. This indigo blue is so yummy.

  • Shirley Burt

Fat quarter bundles are my go to because then there is enough fabric for either a quilt, table runner, wall hanging or a set of smaller projects. My imagination came run amok if I have the bundle. Love this line so much. Blues, glorious blues, my favorite. Thank you for designing such a delightful new line.

  • Lorie Simons

I am so in love with this set. My go to set is a fat quarter bundle. It is the best way to get a bit of the full line. It’s coordinated for you. And there are so many options you can make with a fat quarter combo.

  • Pam in Indiana

Hi Anne! I always love to see what you have going on! I love the new fabric line!!!! We are awaiting for the arrival of our newest grandson in Texas in July. He will be #8! This line will go so nicely in his nursery!! I like FQ bundles so I can have some of each fabric.

  • Linda Mee

If I don’t have a plan in mind and just have to have the fabric line – I’ll buy a layer cake.  You can make something beautiful out of them :)

  • Shannon

I probably am drawn to the fat-eighth (can’t quite afford a fat quarter bundle all the time). My next “go-to” is the layer cake. That was there are more cutting options.

  • Debbie Highcock

April Fools day got me!  I didn’t completely read through your message!  😢
So I’m resubmitting my request.  I
Like honeybuns as I have several patterns that use a honey bun.  I would have to add some yardage to complete the quilt, but
    That would be fun to
    Order once your shipment arrives!
    Happy Easter to everyone!

  • Sandy Allen

I hand to go for later cakes, as I have several books that use them specifically. I also like that you can cut charm packs from them and make patterns that use multiple charms. They are just so versatile!

  • Deborah Highcock

There’s no fooling around when it comes to fabric!  I’d love to have a bag of scraps as my next
Project is to create a blue and white quilt!
