Waiting and Waiting

It seems like so long ago that I introduced you to Crystal Lane.  There’s always a long stretch of time between when we show you a new line and when the line actually arrives in shops.  For Crystal Lane, this stretch is longer than normal.  She’s been on schedule to arrive around the middle of April, but I’ve heard from Moda that she’s running about 4 to 6 weeks late.

Because of Covid, there have been delays and backups at the ports. Crystal is waiting for her turn, and I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives. I think she’s in good company as most fabric lines are running late. They will all catch up at some point, but it’s out of everyone’s control for now.

Crystal Lane was such a fun line to play with.  Once I submitted it to Moda, and it was in the schedule,  I couldn’t stop designing with this fabric.  There’s something about blue and white that is so refreshing and fun!  You can tell in the photo below that I’m a pink girl (yes, I do have a lot of pink storage boxes), but I was more than happy to make room for Crystal’s blue and white.  If I’d had more time, I could have come up with more and more things to make with Crystal Lane.  It’s a good thing there are catalog deadlines that we have to meet.

There’s a box of Crystal Lane scraps from Moda sitting in my garage right now, just waiting to be bagged up.  So, while we’re waiting for Crystal Lane to arrive, I’ll make myself drag them out, and I’ll bag them.  I’ll let you know when I have them on our website.

Oh, and you see some of the goodies on my cutting table?  Let’s do a giveaway for a chance to win some of them!  Charm squares, a layer cake, a honey bun, and even that fat quarter bundle.  And, if you are the winner of the Crystal Lane Honey Bun, I’ll include one of the panels from this line so you can start making the Wintertime quilt below.

All you have to do to be entered in my giveaway is tell me what type of pre-cut you “go to” the most and why.  Is it a mini charm, charm pack, layer cake, fat eighth bundle, fat quarter bundle, or maybe Moda’s new hexie package?

So check back right here on this blog post, Thursday morning, April 1st, to see if you’re a winner!

What beautiful fabric!  Blue is my favorite color and your prints are wonderful.  I love all pre cuts but my favorite is the fat quarter bundle.  It’s more versatile because you are able to cut larger pieces from them.  Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Karen S

These are such pretty blues.  Disappointing it’s going to be late, but the wait will be worth it!  I typically purchase a layer cake or fat eighths because these give me more options. I can cut strips if I need them or other sizes.  I’ll pick up a jelly roll when I have a specific pattern in mind.  I’m rarely lacking for ideas . . . just enough time to make!!  Eager to sew with these blues.

  • Karla Stiverson

The Jelly Rolls are what I seem to end up using more and more. The pieces are easy to cut from the strips which sometimes saves me one step in cutting. Your fabrics I look for whenever I am in a quilt shop. I even have your panels.

Good morning Anne,  I have a hard time choosing between charm squares or fat quarters-use both quite frequently. Love doing small projects so both help for those projects for sure.

  • Bonnie Larson

My main precut used to be jelly rolls, but, now I find myself grabbing fat quarters as they seem to be able to give me more variety in my piecing. Thanks so much!!

  • Sue Parks

Love this new fabric line! My go to is a fat quarter bundle, I like that it is all coordinated and ready to create with. I do enjoy working with panels so much. I mostly sew up crib or small quilts for foster children in our community. Panel quilts are quick and fun to make for a child to smile.

  • Angie

I love all the precuts.  Lately I have been EPP so I am drawn to the hexis, but prefer buying the fat quarter bundles.  Love everything you create, Ann!

  • Linda Holland

I really like your new line, Chrystal. My go to is layer cake. Especially I like a fabric line with no project in mind.

  • Susan Roberts

I hit the wrong button so the first reply is a mistake.  Looking forward to your newest fabrics coming out and I love blue.  I tend to purchase layer cakes.  Thank you for the opportunity to win your lovely fabrics!

  • Susan R

Blue is my very favorite color so I’m looking forward to your new and gorgeous line coming up.  I usually purchase layer cakes most often. Thank you for the opportunity to win your lovely fabric!

  • Lynn Jarzombeck

Lovely fabric!  I have more charms than anything else so I guess that’s my go to.  I do like layer cakes though because of the increased options with their use.

  • Laura Benthien

I really like fat quarter bundles! It gives me a nice sized piece of everything and I am able to make at least 3 projects, with scraps left over for appliqué from them!

  • Holly Hendershott

I like to use fat quarters.  I am never sure how much fabric I will need when doing a project and a fat quarter gives me a little extra fabric to use then some of the other precuts.  The Crystal Lane fabric is really pretty.

  • Anne Marie

I prefer fat quarter bundles as they are so versatile – I can cut them into so many different sizes and shapes.

  • Robin Mikjaniec

Just love Honey Buns always sooo pretty to look at the complete line before I get to use it and I find them so very versatile in many applications and they save a lot of strip cutting. Your Chrystal lane is so beautiful I just love blue and white, so clean and fresh. Thanks Anne!!!!

  • A Clark

I love precuts for the variety you get in the entire pack–most quilt shops cannot carry an entire line so it’s great to have each piece of the collection-my most likely purchased precut is the layer cake (but I must have a sweet tooth because I occasionally like charms and jelly rolls too!)

  • Phyllis Boatright

I love this line, it is beautiful.  My favorite would be the fat quarter bundle.  It’s enough for a quilt with some leftovers.

  • Christine B.

This fabric range is just beautiful! I love blue and white! My favourite pre-cut would be one of the bigger sizes, fat eighth or fat quarter as I like to have a lot of options to use the fabrics for backing smaller projects, etc.

  • Debbie MacRae

Fat quarters are my favourite, you can do so much with them from quilts to pincushions. BTW blue is my favourite color, can’t wait for Crystal Lane to arrive. 😊

  • ELLIE

Wow.  Haven’t seen these shades of blue in a long time.  So refreshing. Like to work with 10 inch squares or fat quarters.

  • Josefina

I use layer cakes most often. It’s versatile in that I can get a 6” square and a bunch of 2.5” squares. Also, there’s one pattern I really enjoy making that is layer cake friendly. I will definitely buy a layer cake of the Crystal Lane fabric collection.

  • Martina

I am soo looking forward to this Line! My favourite cuts are the Fatquarters because it is so handy to mix and mach, they are perfect to store on my shelves and  mostly there are scraps left for smaller projects😊

  • Linda Valentino

I love all precuts because you get a piece of each fabric in the line, but I like the layer cakes the best.  They have a lot of versatility packed into a 10” square.

  • Dee Winter

Oh, it’s such a hard choice!  I love them all.  I really like the layer cakes the most!  Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  • Bonnie Lindsey

Fat Quarter bundle…I like the packaging for starters…so neatly stacked, then to lay each one out, fondling as I go, and then just dream of all the creative possibilities to show the fabrics at their best!

  • Laure

I always go for the fat quarter bundle, unless a half yard bundle is available!  I like the bigger pieces because you have many more options – and I love leftovers.

  • Carol

I am always attracted to jelly rolls first, but have so many now that I’ve started collecting layer cakes! And my fav colours are blue and white so I can’t wait for Crystal Lane.  It looks fabulous!

  • Estie

I love sewing with charm packs.  There’s so many patterns you can create with them.  I have three grandnieces under the age of 2 and would love to make a quilt with charm squares for one of them.

  • Heidi Gorthy

Fat quarter bundles are my guilty pleasures. to  Often I will buy a fat quarter bundle just because I’ve fallen in love with the fabric but with no particular project in mind. I know I will have the versatility of using it for either an applique or pieced project so when that light bulb moment hits and I find just the perfect thing to use it for I’m so happy I have complimentary pieces from the whole line.
Crystal Lane is so clean and fresh and just downright gorgeous.

  • Sandy

I love fat quarter bundles the best, however I’ve never met a pre-cut I didn’t like. I do use all sizes for applique and scrap quilts. I love to work  with all the little bits that are left over.

  • Marjorie Sener

Lovely blues! I like jelly rolls because I’ve found some very nice patterns that use them, and its so nice to have them from a collection because they all go so well together.

  • Jan

Anne, I went nuts over this line. Moda is the best ever, I probably could pick it out blindfolded. I love fat quarter bundles and layer cakes. And hexies? Oh my! I can’t wait! Fabulous fabric! Thank you, and Moda!

  • DeAnna Dodson

Oh, I love this line! So pretty and fresh!! I’m an appliquer, so the more variety the better, in my opinion. I like fat quarters or fat eighths. The more the merrier!

  • JanetF

What a fun giveaway!  Well, I’m split between a jelly roll and a layer cake, but if I had to choose, well I can’t.  BUT for this specific giveaway, it’s a honeybun hands down!

  • Wendy

I always love the fat quarter bundle!! I have tons of them!! I love having them because you have so much fabric for many quilts- I’m an appliqué gal!
