“I Love Candy” Moda Blog Hop

Hi everyone!   Welcome to the Moda Blog Hop and Bunny Hill.  When Chelsea heard this was about our hometown and Moda Candy she got so excited!   She begged me to let her show you around and there’s no keeping that dog out of things when she decides she wants in.  She’s been after the “Candy” I’ve had stashed for my giveaway ever since I brought it home.  Maybe she’ll forget the “Candy” if I let her show you around.

We live in the San Francisco Bay area in a town called Discovery Bay.  No one really knows where Discovery Bay is except for the 13,000 that live here.   It’s not even a an official city yet but we like it that way.  If you drive in the San Francisco Bay area you are guaranteed to find freeways filled with traffic but Discovery Bay doesn’t have a freeway.   We  drive through country roads where the only traffic is created by driving behind a slow tractor on a 2 lane road.

OK Chelsea, show them where we live!

Here’s a map of the San Francisco Bay area and Discovery Bay.  Wait!  I think Chelsea’s standing on our house!  Chelsea move over please!

At one end of town you’ll find waterways…inlets coming in off the River Delta with houses lining the waterways. You can walk out your back door, jump in and swim because these inlets are fresh water.   This is only a few blocks from our house but poor Chelsea hates to swim so we try to stay away from this area. Being the brave dog she is, she agreed to jump in just for the purpose of this picture.

…At the other end of town you’ll find acres of farmland.

Chelsea loves to visit the fruit orchards and vegetable stands.  She’s really into chasing birds healthy eating.

Chelsea get out of those onions!  (…sorry but she likes to pick out her own veggies.)

Bunny Hill is located inside my Discovery Bay home.  The studio is on the upper floor of my house so it’s not open to the public.   Chelsea’s been trying to get me to open a store but I know her reasons are a bit one sided…more attention.    She gets enough attention already.  She sleeps in a little drawer right by my desk and she get pets from everyone all day long.

She’s active in my design work and often puts in her 2 cents worth when I’m designing.

She personally checks my fabric when it arrives…gives it the sniff test to see if it passes.

Yesterday when I got out the Moda Candy, Chelsea was so excited!   She’s been watching these little bundles ever since I brought them home!  I can’t blame her, just look at these cute little packages of 2 1/2″ squares of fabric.  They are perfect for making a dog bed doll quilt, miniature wall quilt, table topper, pincushions, small totes…you get the idea.

If Chelsea will give up some of this “Candy” you could win a few to make a cute miniature quilt like this one!

Don’t worry, I’ll make her part with some Candy and we’ll add it to our giveaway.

You’ll find the FREE pattern for this Candy quilt below:

Sweet Lily

So what are we giving away?   One of you is going to win this beautiful bundle of WINDSOR LANE and three of you are going to win some Windsor Lane Moda Candy to make my Sweet Lily quilt.  We’ll announce the winners on September 15th so be sure and check back.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this blog post telling me where you live and the names of your pets if you have any!

I live in Sarasota, Florida and we have a variety of pets: 18 year old cat named Cinabella, 2 budgies named Henry Tuck and Sophia Charlotte Wurttemberg, and several salt water fish (not named) and hermit crabs also in the tank named Kathy, Louis, and Edmund. And then my hubby has 3 cats at his business, Gracie, Masha and Sasha. Be sure to thank Chelsea for the wonderful tour and I hope she finds her mouse soon or gets loads in the mail!

I always enjoy your posts and Chelsea is precious. I have a maltipoo named Baxter who is my sewing companion. He is much happier when I am doing handwork so we can cuddle. We live inMacon, Georgia which is about an hour south of Atlanta.

Thanks for showing us around, Chelsea! What a cutie you are!! I’ve been to San Francisco once– and definitely want to come back someday. And if I do, I would love to visit Discovery Bay! :-)

I live all the way across the country– in southern Alabama— about 30 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico– in a small farming community called Rosinton. I love it here. We moved into our new home a couple years ago. Our cats, Mr. Fat and Newt– along with their new- found friend, Clarance Rogers (there’s a whole story about how *that* name came about ;-) absolutely love prowling around on my Dad’s 40 acres. We also have 2 shelties- Mandy and Kolby– who absolutely love it here too! Mandy, even though she doesn’t look like it, is our guard dog. She lets us know if a plane, or bird, or even the International Space Station (another story) flies over! LOL A couple weeks ago, she *really* proved herself by alerting us to a big rattlesnake that had found it’s way into our back yard!

Thank you so much for the chance to win one of your wonderful prizes!!! My fingers are crossed!! (And so are Clarance’s eyes ;-)

  • JUdy in Michigan

Thanks for the chance to win some of your gorgeous fabric. I live in Gaylord, MI, about 200 miles north of Detroit. It’s a rural area with a great little Main Street with neat shops and a quilt shop of course. I love how you cleverly took photos of Chelsea in and around your town.

I live in Oregon City, Oregon with six cats and one dog. Our cats are Stanley (elderly and nearly blind), his self-appointed flirty nurse cat, Winnie (who is asthmatic), Griffie and Zoe, the siblings (Zoe is the Queen of All She Surveys), Jack (my younger daughter’s cat who is fond of jumping on shoulders of people as they pass by, thus “hi-jacking” them), and Gizmo, the baby who sleeps with my husband and I every night. Then there is dear, sweet, patient Nick. Nick is 106 pounds of Lab who loves the couch, his mom, and fetching a stick out of water…but if there’s not water, he will not fetch anything! So, there’s my crazy animal family. It was so fun stopping by to see you!

thank you for the sweet lily pattern and this wonderful giveaway — you are very generous. i live in mesa/phoenix, arizona, otherwise known as the ‘valley of the sun’. and, this year has been a hot one (broke a lot of records), but we’ve also had a lot of n-i-c-e rains, too. we have no pets at the moment.

Right now, we only have one pet, a handsome 13 year old Cairn Terrier named Dudley. He’s lived with us 10 years, he’s a rescue and we’re his third owners. He loves to go on walks and to cuddle, he loves his afternoon naps with my husband, too. Lizzie, aka “killer”, just passed. She was 15, a Cairn and a rescue, too. She was a great girl, but couldn’t abide any uninvited critters in the backyard. On her walks she didn’t care, but not in “her” backyard.

I live in Milford, PA and we do not have any official pets right now. However, living in a woodland community in the Pocono Mountains, we have plenty of wildlife that has decided this is a great place to live. We see deer and wild turkeys practically every day. We also have bunnies, foxes, and other small creatures. Bears are around (I have seen two this year), but I am not outside at the right time to see very many (hubby has seen six so far). The most exciting was the Mom and three baby skunks that lived under our shed for a few days. Fingers crossed that we were just their vacation spot because I haven’t seen them lately – the babies were adorable though!!

Anne, what a cute post!! I see you’ve become a photoshop master, too :) Your hometown looks sublime. I’m in the country in the upper midwest, hot in summer but very cold in winter, and I love the seasons. We are just a short drive to malls and cultural events, so we have the best of both here. I am currently between pets, but as you know, Max was my precious little cat for 22 years and still in my heart :)
Thanks for the sweet pattern (hmm, I wonder who inspired the name?) and wonderful giveaway…I just love love those little precuts!

Hi! I loved taking the tour with Chelsea. We live in Cordova, TN. We share our home with two beautiful cats that we adopted last October 6th. Sweetie and George. Our previous beloved kitty had died in August, and their previous owner had died in August and they wound up in the shelter. They were so unhappy there, and they came to live with us. I’m so glad that they did!

What a cutie Chelsea is and so very smart to be a partner in your business – I live outside of Raleigh, NC in a small community called Clayton. Everytime we have to go to Raleigh, all via interstate roads, we give a big sigh of relief when we come home and turn into our tree-lined, no traffic street and know why we live here in our golden years. Our little Cairn terrier, Casey Gail, is our loyal companion and is enjoying her golden years right along with us – we all take naps together. A Lovely and wonderful giveaway and sure hope “Vanna” chooses me. Judy C

    Hi Bunny,

I live in Sydney Australia. We have a bit of a menagerie; 2 dogs – a brother and sister pair named Rex and Molly, 2 beautiful chickens called Black Chicken and Red Hen and about 20 fish. Surprisingly, the dogs and the chooks get along very well and harmoniously share our yard space without too much fuss.

  • Laurel

Love your little quilt. Would love to recreate it. I’m now an empty nester and a bit of vagabond so no pets currently. Best dog name we ever had was for a basset hound named Tillymae de Longbody. Thanks for the tour!

  • Estie

I currently live in Germantown, Maryland. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii; then off to college in southern California. After getting married, we lived in Chicago, IL, and Fayetteville, AR. As you can tell I’ve really moved east across the USA. As for pets, just a tankfull of dalmatian mollies with no names. In Hawaii we always had cats and dogs. The first dog was Skippy and the first cat was Taffy.

The fat quarter fabrics are delicious. Hope I win!!

  • Brita

We live on the beautiful Cumberland Plateau in TN, whre it’s growing much too fast! I love the part of the country where you live, and I suspect we drove through there when we lived in the SF Bay Area. Our Ragdoll, Annabella, is our baby!

    What a fun post!!

I live in Iowa and fall has snuck in on us here. It’s cold this morning!

I have 3 fur kids…Gracie the cat, and my two mini aussies Clay and Scotty. Scotty is my special needs dog. He was born deaf due to breeder greed by mating two merle aussies. But there is no need to feel sorry for him. He has no idea he is deaf. =D We use sign language to talk to him and when i need his attention, I stomp on the floor. Oh, and trust me, he has a knack for knowing when there is food around. lol

Thank you and Chelsea for the tour of Discovery Bay – it looks beautiful. I think you’ve let the ‘secret’ of Discovery Bay out of the bag now and everyone is going to ‘discover’ it, too!

I live in a suburb just outside of Detroit and sadly, we just lost our beloved dog of 15 1/2 years about 3 months ago. He was easily the sweetest Bichon ever and we miss him very much. So, as I remind everyone with a wonderful fur family member, cherish them every single day.

I love your blog, Anne. It is truly one of my favorite sites to visit. Thank you so much for sharing your creative gifts with us.

  • Dee

Chelsea’s just adorable! Looking very spry! I live in Youngsville, NC which is just north of the capital Raleigh with a dog (Gabriel) and 4 cats (Sam, Jack, Moses and David). Actually, Sam and Jack (siblings) just celebrated their 12th birthday this week, so they got lots of ‘candy’ to enjoy all to themselves.
