Welcome “Peanut” Sutton

It’s been almost 6 months since I said goodbye to Milkshake and I haven’t thought about getting another dog until last month. Chelsea and our Tweety cat have become good friends, and Tweety spends a lot of time giving Chelsea “head butts.” But Tweety can’t go on walks or car rides with her, and he doesn’t help her bark at the UPS man.  Those are important things for a dog.

So, we decided to look for a senior dog that could become a companion for all of us!  I’ve spent weeks looking at rescue sites, but my heart really wanted another Toy Fox Terrier.  We’ve had two, Bitsy Button and Milkshake and I’ve come to love this breed.  When I saw her on the Toy Fox Terrier Rescue Facebook page, I knew she was the one for us. This little dog touched my heart.

We don’t know much about her. She was found unconscious in someone’s front yard. The pads on her feet were burned, and she barely weighed 6 pounds. Animal control was called and from that point on her life would change. She received medical attention and waited for someone to claim her. When no one did, the shelter scheduled her to become a prison therapy dog. The Toy Fox Terrier rescue heard about her and wanted her to have a forever home instead. They found a foster mom to take her, and they put her up for adoption on their website. That’s when I saw her!

We’ve had her for three weeks, and she fits in perfectly.  She’s a tiny little thing, so we’ve named her Peanut.  She’s approximately 8 years old, loves people, loves Chelsea, and she’s good around our cats.  When you take on a rescue, you never know what their life has been like.  Loud noises scare her, she’s afraid of anything that drops, and she has no idea how to play with toys.   I know that gentle love and kindness can help with anything and she’ll have plenty of that here.

Tweety has decided he really likes her, and he’s started giving her “head butts.”  She doesn’t seem to mind at all.  Welcome to our family Peanut!

Anne

We have recsues, also.  Even after all the trauma, they are so loving.  Congratulations on your newest member of the family.

It’s always wonderful to have a new furry family member. It’s wonderful that you are willing to take a senior pup. So many times animals are dumped or put down when grandma passes.
I hope you have many happy, healthy years together!

This post brings tears to my eyes. It’s beyond my understanding how a dog or a cat can be mistreated. Sending you the biggest hug for following your heart and finding Peanut. It’s amazing how everything kind of fell into place and she became yours. I know she is going to have a wonderful life with you and your family!! Congratulations!!!

    Dearest Anne,
Blessings come into our lives in ways we seem mystified by but make no mistake, they are not random.
I’m thrilled you and Peanut found one another. May this precious little one clear the cobwebs of grief and allow the sunshine to pour through all the members of the Sutton family hearts 🥰
    Welcome Home, Peanut!

I teared up reading this.  You and Peanut are so very lucky to have found each other. She truly belonged in your family.  I am often wishing I knew more about our dogs history and then sometimes I think I am glad I do not. Looking forward to Peanuts adventures. <3

I am so very happy for the blessing you and the “crew” have been to Peanut and vice versa! She is adorable and I can’t wait to see how she will LOVE caressing your quilts, lol. Wishing you all more abundant blessings ahead.

Bless you!  Rescues are the sweetest animals.  They are so grateful for the love.  We only rescue as a tribute to all of our beloved pets.

So glad you rescued her as we did our part beagle/terrier who also is scared of noises and sleeps with blanket on her head.

What an adorable fur baby and I am so glad you rescued an older dog. While Peanut had to wait a long time for her forever home, I am so glad she gets her “and she lived happily ever after!”

We lost our beloved Shadow in January of 2017.  We weren’t going to get another dog, but after a year, we missed the companionship of a dog.  We found our Ranger at a shelter an hour away.  He was a puppy, and we survived the puppy-hood.  He’s now 16 months old, lots of fun, and a good watch dog.  It’s wonderful that Peanut has joined your family, she’ll get lots of love and care.

Oh Thank You.  We only have had rescue dogs, or dogs that were on their way to a rescue.  We have a Boxer/Pit mix and a Min Pin.  They are best friends and it is true that dogs must have a dog friend to be truly happy.  It’s fun to watch mine be best friends.  The Min Pin is my first little breed dog and has stolen my heart.

So happy for little Peanut and you as well!  Very sad what many animals go through and nice that she has finally found a loving home!  Yay!

She looks like a perfect fit!  I rescued a senior yorkie when she showed up on a rescue site, her owner had passed away and she had her teeth pulled.  She needed a special diet.    I have two yorkies and one I feed a special diet.  She wanted nothing  do with me or my yorkies at the shelter, but I took a chance on her. She followed me everywhere from the day I brought her home until the day she went over the rainbow bridge. My younger yorkie and her were best friends.  Love your story, brought back many memories and good tears.

I am sure Peanut is going to be spoiled. It’s a nice way for her to live her later years after what she went thru in the earlier years.

Oh, tiny precious baby Peanut! She just could not be any cuter. I am seriously about to cry. All my pets are rescues, they they make wonderful, wonderful pets. I hate to think of what these precious little ones have been through, and it makes me so happy when they finally get a loving home. I’m thrilled for her and for you. I have cats, but I think if I were to get a dog, I’d get one of these. They’re just darling. Please post pictures and videos and stuff frequently. I’d love to hear her sweet little voice.

By the way, she reminds me of my tiny cat Elizabeth. She’s eight, but she weighs less than six pounds. I got her when she was four weeks old and had to bottle feed her. She’s always been tiny and feisty. Little and delicate, like your sweet Peanut. <3

How darling is this little dog?!!  SO ADOREABLE!!  She’s SO lucky to have you!  I hope you have many wonderful years of joy ahead!  🐾🐾❤️❤️🐾🐾

I’ve been watching for your announcement! She is darling. Her story made me cry and it sounds like you and your family are the perfect match for her. I’m so happy for you!
And I’m kind of thinking she is a good excuse to not go to market🤣. Know I wouldn’t want to go away from her!
Looking forward to more pictures of her, Chelsea, and Tweety.

Oh my, I am so happy for you and Peanut!!!  I know this dog has found a great home and will provide you with lots of love.  Thanks for sharing with us.

She is a sweet little thing to be sure!  My brother and his wife have had several rescue dogs, and we’ve seen some behavioral issues, fear and other things that go along with an animal who has experienced some kind of trauma.  My family has always been so loving and supportive, and that’s just what these special pets need.  I know Peanut with get this in your care too, Anne.  She’s adorable, and I’m so glad that your home is now her home :)

Precious! I’m so glad Peanut has a good home now! We have a rescue that is part Aussie. She was so scrawny when we got her almost three years ago. They thought she was around one then. Brought her home and she chewed up everything in the house! She’s so much larger than our Shi-Tzu which is now 12 and needed a companion. They play together well. She, too, is afraid of everything. When Yogi starts barking, she runs to me! Today she is a healthy, happy, sweet, loving, 70 lb(!) baby! Rescues make awesome pets!
