“I Love Candy” Moda Blog Hop

Hi everyone!   Welcome to the Moda Blog Hop and Bunny Hill.  When Chelsea heard this was about our hometown and Moda Candy she got so excited!   She begged me to let her show you around and there’s no keeping that dog out of things when she decides she wants in.  She’s been after the “Candy” I’ve had stashed for my giveaway ever since I brought it home.  Maybe she’ll forget the “Candy” if I let her show you around.

We live in the San Francisco Bay area in a town called Discovery Bay.  No one really knows where Discovery Bay is except for the 13,000 that live here.   It’s not even a an official city yet but we like it that way.  If you drive in the San Francisco Bay area you are guaranteed to find freeways filled with traffic but Discovery Bay doesn’t have a freeway.   We  drive through country roads where the only traffic is created by driving behind a slow tractor on a 2 lane road.

OK Chelsea, show them where we live!

Here’s a map of the San Francisco Bay area and Discovery Bay.  Wait!  I think Chelsea’s standing on our house!  Chelsea move over please!

At one end of town you’ll find waterways…inlets coming in off the River Delta with houses lining the waterways. You can walk out your back door, jump in and swim because these inlets are fresh water.   This is only a few blocks from our house but poor Chelsea hates to swim so we try to stay away from this area. Being the brave dog she is, she agreed to jump in just for the purpose of this picture.

…At the other end of town you’ll find acres of farmland.

Chelsea loves to visit the fruit orchards and vegetable stands.  She’s really into chasing birds healthy eating.

Chelsea get out of those onions!  (…sorry but she likes to pick out her own veggies.)

Bunny Hill is located inside my Discovery Bay home.  The studio is on the upper floor of my house so it’s not open to the public.   Chelsea’s been trying to get me to open a store but I know her reasons are a bit one sided…more attention.    She gets enough attention already.  She sleeps in a little drawer right by my desk and she get pets from everyone all day long.

She’s active in my design work and often puts in her 2 cents worth when I’m designing.

She personally checks my fabric when it arrives…gives it the sniff test to see if it passes.

Yesterday when I got out the Moda Candy, Chelsea was so excited!   She’s been watching these little bundles ever since I brought them home!  I can’t blame her, just look at these cute little packages of 2 1/2″ squares of fabric.  They are perfect for making a dog bed doll quilt, miniature wall quilt, table topper, pincushions, small totes…you get the idea.

If Chelsea will give up some of this “Candy” you could win a few to make a cute miniature quilt like this one!

Don’t worry, I’ll make her part with some Candy and we’ll add it to our giveaway.

You’ll find the FREE pattern for this Candy quilt below:

Sweet Lily

So what are we giving away?   One of you is going to win this beautiful bundle of WINDSOR LANE and three of you are going to win some Windsor Lane Moda Candy to make my Sweet Lily quilt.  We’ll announce the winners on September 15th so be sure and check back.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this blog post telling me where you live and the names of your pets if you have any!

Thanks Chelsea for the great tour. I live in Baraboo, Wisconsin in the country with losts of corn fields around us. But, this year the corn is really sad! The drought has hit us hard. Tilly my Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (Toller for short) loves it out in the country. But, she also loves to go to town so that she can see lots of people. She is such a people dog. You go for a walk, and wants to visit with every person she see.

I live in Medford Lakes, NJ, a town in southern NJ that is about a mile and a half square and has 22 lakes! That’s why when I had a longarm quilting business it was named Lakeside Quilting. I just wish I lived on one of the lakes!

The pets who own me are two cats named Calvin and Cheyenne and a Husky/Australian Shepherd mix named Daisy. She gave us a scare today…had a full blown seizure, but we took her to the vet and she’ll be fine. I’d love to make a quilt with those fabrics…they’re beautiful!

  • JulieZaloudek

I’m pretty sure we drove past Discovery Bay on our way to Lodi for wine tasting in March!
I live in the Houston area, have 4 cats, Phlash, Daisy, Muffin & Spunky and a hedgehog, Prickles.
I always love it when Chelsea helps with the blog!

Oh, my, another wonderful blog including Chelsea! Did she get any mice toys yet? We live in Plymouth, MN, which is a suburb of Minneapolis. It’s the land of over 10,000 lakes and we have four distinct seasons during the year. Looking forward to fall! We have three elderly cats – Morley, the boy, Callie and Tori, our girls. When my daughter visits from college we have her kitten Pep-Pep. He drives our four geriatric cats quite crazy! Love the pattern and the fabric :)

  • Janice

I live in South Bend, IN, two dogs, Georgia (named after Grandpa George and Lexie (short for Rolex our “watch dog” get it? – hubbies idea for a name. Oh almost forgot 2 goats, Tonka and Skippy. Thanks for the great give a way!

I live in Gilbert, Arizona, the sun shines at least 310 days a year and our winters are fabulous. We had a little white poodle for 18 years but don’t have a pet right now, but I can see one in the future.

  • Nena

I’m from Vernal, Utah and we have one pet–a cat that has the most unique meow ever. Our kids named her Whiner because she sounds like she is whining. She has been with us for many, many years now and we love her.

  • STACEY LARSON

Chelsea is soo cute. And boy do they all (our pets) know how to get under our skin. But the love they return in priceless. I have 2 dogs – Piper and Crystal. Piper is a mini pin / jack russel mix. She very loving but very bossy! Crystal is our Lab/Border collie mix. Piper is the boss over Crystal which is rather funny. We also have a cat that is orange and white named Garfield and he is big and fat. You can’t see his feet when he sits. We couldn’t have named him better. We also have 2 other cats that came together to our home. We went for one which is Brownie (a black cat) but there was a sweet little kitty with one eye that had been thrown from a car that no one wanted to rescue so we adopted her too. We named her Sparkle and she is the most loving cat I know. Last but not least is my “husbands” guinea pig. She only squeaks when he pulls in the driveway and that’s because he’s spoiled her and cuts her fresh grass when he gets home from the yard. Totally not making this up. He’s Mr. Tough guy and tries to pretend she’s not his but Mollie is under his skin! We live in Apex, NC and it awesome here. We are about 20 min from Raleigh. Thanks for pattern, info on your hometown with Chelsea and your chance for TREATS. :)

  • Charlotte

Murrieta, CA is the name of my hometown. I have 2 “grand dogs” named Snorkel and Hops.

Oh my – your Lily quilt is wonderful! I especially love the striped fabric borders and binding. Will have to make this soon! I live in New Orleans and have several four-legged creative helpers: Bailey, Missi (short for Mississippi) and McKenzie (named for a beloved, but no longer with us New Orleans bakery) – the canine helpers; and Moxie, the queen-of-all-she-surveys feline helper.

You can include the neighbors cat – Coke, because he spends most of his time in our yard. We also have numberous deer that come into our yard – so we feed them. They are getting quite friendly – so we have a whole lot of “pets” around our house.

Very cute post! We live in Eagle Mountain Utah and we love it here. We have a rotten bratty cat named Stitch. He was named after the Disney character and his badness level fits his name. He loves to hide and jump out and attack people as they walk by. He is a stinker but he is so darn cute we put up with him. Thank you for the chance to win!

  • Rae

    Wonderful tour!
The Bay Area is my hometown. Born and raised in San Francisco. Branched out as an adult and now have family in Concord, Antioch, Brentwood areas. Now I live in a small town in the northern part of San Diego county in California caled Ramona. It’s bigger than your town and mostly rural. I can’t afford the deposit required by my apartments for pets, so I haven’t had one since 1987, BUT I have friends who have dogs, cats, chickens, mini horses and full size horses, birds, reptiles and fish tanks so I have no shortage of critters to pet, stoke, cudle, scratch or just plane gaze at!! And while it’s not the same as having my own, it IS a whole lot cheaper!!! ;-)
Chelsea is a real personality!! I don’t know any critter who could have taken me on that beautiful tour. And just what is she planning to do with this Moda Candy she’s been eyeing?

  • Lisa Marie

I live in a small little town called Casnovia, Michigan. Right now we have 3 cats named Blackie, Whitie and Pokey. Pretty common names but when we named them they were wild and it was easier to remember who was who by their color. Pokey got her name because she was always the last one in when they lived in our shop – they now live in the house :) Thanks for a great giveaway.

  • Robyn Brown
