• Snapshots Quilt Along

Here’s my version of block number eight of the Fat Quarter Shop’s Snapshots Quilt.   I think this is my favorite block in the whole quilt.  Of course I say that with each block!   You can find the pattern on the Jolly Jabber blog along with Kimberly’s s video on how to make this block. Oh wait a minute, I think maybe the apron is my favorite block…or maybe the tea kettle! Are you making this quilt?   What’s your favorite block so far?  Only four more blocks to go and the cat is up next.  Here kitty, kitty! Anne

  • Snap Shots Update

Most of the children in our area went back to school on Tuesday.    I don’t know what happened to 3 months off during the summer and back to school in September, but here they started school on the hottest day we’ve had so far (106).  No wonder it seems like time is flying by. I’ve finally had a little time to catch up on the Fat Quarter Shop Snap Shots quilt blocks!  These blocks are really fun to make and if you haven’t started yet, you can still get the pattern on the Jolly Jabber blog.  I’m using assorted fat quarters from American Jane’s “Fresh Air” fabric line.  I’ve mixed in some solid…

  • Snapshots Quilt Along Block Three

I thought I’d be creative and photograph my Snapshots quilt block with something green for St. Patrick’s Day.  The first thing I realized when looking around my house is that I don’t own very much in the way of green.  Certainly nothing that looks as cute as the tea kettle in this month’s block! I did happen to find a vintage flower pot that belonged to my mother and I filled it with some shamrock plants.   Now for a cup of tea! This is one of my favorite blocks.  Who doesn’t love a quilt star in the center of a tea kettle?  And have you ever seen such creative “steam”? I’ve…

  • Snapshots

It’s February 15th and time for block two of Snapshots, the Fat Quarter Shop quilt-along.  You can find the free block on the Jolly Jabber blog and it’s the perfect one for all of us.  It’s the sewing machine block! Just think, you can make a sewing machine any color you’d like!  This block is quick, easy and imagine, no applique needed. You can see all the future blocks on the Fat Quarter blog, and be sure and join the Snapshots quilt-along on Facebook!  Hope you have some time today for a little sewing! Anne

  • Fast, fun and easy layer cake quilt

Sewing with a Layer Cake is so much fun!  Add a charm pack (or 5” squares) and you’re on the road to success.  You can make a quilt in just one weekend, start to finish!   So, when The Fat Quarter Shop asked me to try their new Layer of Charms pattern I just couldn’t wait!   I started with a Layer Cake of Mistletoe Lane, and because I wanted a holiday look to my finished quilt I used my “tree” fabric in place of the charm pack.  It was easy to cut 5” squares.     This quilt goes together so quick and easy.  I know this is a pattern…

  • Inspirations

There are so many things that inspire and excite me.  All you have to do is look around, and you’ll find them too.  I get the most excited when one of you uses something I’ve designed, and takes it to the next level.  Maybe you use a different fabric, add a different touch, or you change it in a way that adds your own creativity.  It’s exciting! Lea Kagel took my Cape Cod Baby pattern and gave it a new look using blue and green fabrics.  She made it for a new mother-to-be and I think she may have already given it to her.  She was drawn to the pattern because…
