• Splendid Sampler Fun

Have you seen the activity over at The Splendid Sampler Website?  It’s amazing to see all the blocks coming in!  Many have been adding their own touch to the blocks, and so many looks are created just from the fabrics alone!  You still have time to get started and remember this isn’t a race to the finish line.  The Splendid Sampler goes on for an entire year and during that time life is going to get in the way. I sent my newest fabric line off to Moda and then took Saturday to start on my sampler blocks. Once I started sewing I was hooked.  The blocks are so different, and many…

  • The Splendid Sampler

If I handed you 100 free block patterns and told you that they would become a precious gift if you made them, would you pick your most treasured fabrics?  Would you treat each block as if were something you’d be handing down to your family?  Would you do your very best sewing and enjoy every moment?  Would you schedule time every week for a year to finish this precious gift? Start picking your best fabrics (the fabrics that touch your heart when you look at them) and get ready for the gift of the year from Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson!  These two designers are giving the quilting community 100 free quilt blocks, throughout 2016 and into…

  • Snapshots Quilt

Remember the Snapshots quilt from Fat Quarter Shop that I’ve been making all year? Well, I’ve finally finished my version and it’s one of three quilts on Ebay up for auction by The Fat Quarter Shop!  All the proceeds from the sale of these quilts go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital! This was a really fun quilt to make and I’m grateful to The Fat Quarter Shop for asking me to join in the quilt along.  You can see all three quilts on the Jolly Jabber blog.  Mine was custom quilted by Becky Hubel and her quilting is darling!  Bid on any of these quilts and you’ll be helping children in need.  It doesn’t get any better than that.…

  • Fat Quarter Baby

We had some fun playing around with The Fat Quarter Shop’s new book “Fat Quarter Baby“.   It’s a book filled with 20 of the cutest baby quilts ever!  Ten quilts for little girls and 10 for little boys. If you’re looking for a quick and easy quilt for a baby boy, “Andrew” the whale is perfect.  He looks cute in so many fabrics.  I wanted to see how he’d look with a bit of a modern twist, so I tried him in taupe and grey using Moda’s basic “Dottie”.   I love dots, and it’s been fun to see these little whales come together. My assistant Sue has a new grandson, so she’s been making the…

  • The Making of Merci La Vie for the American Cancer Society

If you haven’t heard If you haven’t heard, over the last 6 months we’ve been making a second Merci la Vie quilt at Bunny Hill. Yes, I said a second quilt!  It’s a very special version of Merci la Vie because it’s been hand appliqued by women who have either experienced breast cancer, or had a friend or relative with it.  Every stitch is dedicated to women all over the world. I’ve had a lot of help from some very special women, and I’ve shipped blocks to be appliqued to Norway, Australia, Utah, Arizona, California and Idaho.  As the blocks have come back with the applique complete, I’ve watched this quilt come together and I realize…

  • Hope Blooms

If you’re a fan of my Kindred Spirits fabric line, and you love pink and white, I’ve designed a quilt for The Fat Quarter Shop that I think you’ll love.  We’re calling it “Hope Blooms”.   It’s a quilt designed especially for breast cancer awareness and one that would make a wonderful gift for someone recently diagnosed.  It has a touch of applique combined with one of my favorite quilt blocks, The Log Cabin! I’ve always loved the log cabin block and I’ve spent a lot of time in the past trying to make each block perfect.   This time it was easy because of the Creative Grids 8” Log Cabin…
