Blockheads

BH4, Blocks 15, 16, 17, 18 & 19

I have recently discovered that if you lock yourself in your sewing room and pretend you’re not home, you can get a LOT of sewing done! That’s what I did last week to catch up with my Blockheads 4 blocks. I gave my husband strict orders not to call me for all the little things he usually does; I silenced my notifications on my phone, cleaned my machine, put in a new bobbin, and then the sewing began. I worked like crazy, binged-watched TV, and now I’m almost caught up with Moda’s Blockheads 4! Here are five more blocks!

#15 Highland Plaid

Coming to us from Crystal Manning, the Highland Plaid block is wonderful! Super simple and fun to sew. I love the four-patch squares and how they come together to form a new design. Can’t you see this as a repeated one-block quilt? This is one of those blocks I want to use again. Crystal is so dang talented (and cute)! Crystal’s showing this block in her Garden Society fabrics over on her blog, and you can see how it looks when the repeated blocks are joined together!

#16 Indiana Puzzle

Indiana Puzzle is brought to us by Tammy Vonderschmitt from Moda Fabrics. How’d you like to be in charge of all the Moda kits? Tammy is it! She does all the pricing, calculates the kits’ yardage, and tells the mills how to cut each piece and package it together. So when you open one of those beautiful Moda boxes, think of her! What you see in that box is because of Tammy. And to think that kits are one of her many talents for Moda.

Tammy brings us a cute Friendship Star block, giving it her special flourish with those four-patch corners!

#17 Shoreline

Be still my heart; this block makes me Swoon! Can you guess who it’s designed by? It’s from the one and only Camille Roskelley of Thimbleblossoms fame! Camille just knows how to create! I’d love to see this block in one of her “Swoon” type quilts.

Camille and her mom Bonnie designed fabric together for years, and her mom just “retired.” So Camille is on her own now for Moda, and I can’t wait to see all the beautiful things she brings us! She has a wonderfully fresh design style, and her personality is as kind and sweet as her style.

#18 Crowning Glory

“Crowning Glory” is brought to us by Betsy Chutchian, and the name absolutely fits the block! I’ve seen this block over on the Moda Blockheads Facebook group in so many different fabrics, and it looks stunning in all of them. I couldn’t wait to sew this one.

Betsy has extensive knowledge of vintage quilts; her passion is reproduction fabrics. No one pulls together colors or patterns like she does. She lives very close to Moda, so she can stop by when she’s in the area. Can you imagine that?

#19 Clover

Clover, block 19 from Robin Pickins is stunning no matter how you slice it! I wanted the star to stand out, so I changed the corner triangles to squares. I love this block because there are so many ways to color it. Add those corner triangles back in, and you have a Clover!

That’s it for today! Four more blocks to share, and I’ll be caught up.
