Moda Blockheads 4, Blocks 2 & 3

Block 3

Good morning (or good afternoon), everyone! Today Moda is releasing Blockheads 4, block 3! It’s not too late; you can still join in the fun. You can easily catch up this weekend and make the first 3 blocks. Here’s my version of Block 3. I’m making it in my new fabric line coming in August/September, called The Flower Farm.

Block 3 was designed by Laurie Simpson from Minick & Simpson, and she’s named her block “Kouign Amann.” If you don’t know what Kouign Amann is, I didn’t either, but you can find out by clicking on Laurie’s blog today. You can find the pattern for Block 3 on Laurie’s blog or on the Moda Blog. Laurie designs stunning applique, and every time I see her at Quilt Market, she has applique in her hands.

Here’s the link for Block 3.

There are a lot of triangles in this block, and it may be a little intimidating for beginners. To make the flying geese, I got out my Bloc_Loc Flying Geese Ruler (1.5″ x 3″ Finished). I have a collection of Bloc_Loc rulers, and I use them when I can.

Block 2

I’ve also completed Block 2 of Moda Blockheads 4! Block 2 is brought to you by Jenelle Kent of Pieces to Treasure. She’s given her block another fun name, “Cooee.” You can find out what this name means on her blog or in the block directions. Jenelle designs toweling for Moda, and the first time I saw her at Quilt Market, I couldn’t get into her booth to talk to her because she was always busy! She makes beautiful things from toweling that I never dreamed of, and her market booth was filled with samples to delight the eyes. In addition, Jenelle has included a free pattern for a beautiful pillow in her blog post!

Be sure and join the Moda Blockheads group on FaceBook. There are so many different, beautiful blocks! And everyone is so helpful and encouraging!

Are you sewing along? Thinking about it? Sitting this one out?

Block 4 (next Wednesday) is by me, and it’s a simple one with a simple name!

Have a great day!

Anne

Ooh, Block 3 is so pretty — I especially love the fabric with the light pink background and darker flowers? Where is Block 2? Did I miss that?

I’m loving these blocks!  I’d hoped to sew along, but then reality set in :)  I am working on UFOs and determined not to get sidetracked.  But I’ll enjoy watching.  Your fabric line is so charming!

I’m using my Country Christmas FQB that I won on your blog for my Block Head 4 blocks.  I have only one block made (I just started Monday after work), but I hope to catch up this weekend.
