My Sweet Peanut

I had to say goodbye to Peanut last week and it hurts so much I can hardly write this post. She’s been fighting IBD since we brought her home.  At first, her medications worked wonders, but slowly over time, they quit and we’ve had to try new ones. I knew it was bad when our vet referred us to a specialist and the chemo drug, she put her on didn’t work.  She told me there was nothing else they could do.

I am so grateful for my time with her.  She loved me with every inch of her little being. When you rescue a dog, I have no doubt they realize it.

Chelsea has been depressed and at first, she hardly ate.  Grief is something we all go through when we say goodbye to a beloved pet.  I’ve taken Chelsea for extra walks, given her extra love, and made sure she has lots of attention.  Tweety won’t let her walk across the room without giving her head-butts.  I captured this photo of Chelsea and Tweety together this week, looking out my studio window.

My sweet Peanut will be missed more than words can say.  Hugs to all of you who have lost a beloved pet.  You must know exactly how I feel.

Anne

Sending you a big hug 🤗.  I know your pain.  They may seem like just an animal to some, but to us they are family.  Peanut was certainly lucky to have found you ❤️❤️

Oh Ann dear. I’m so, so sorry about Peanut. In the many years I’ve known you, you’ve always given so much love to the little  furry children you’ve rescued over the years. All of your pets have been blessed to have you as their Mommy. Heidu

So sorry for your loss..we too said goodbye to our beloved friend a little over a month ago. They are with us such a short time but cherished forever.

So sorry to hear about your Peanut. It is heartbreaking for sure. We lost our 8 yr old Dobe Monday and have just been devastated all week. They leave such an empty hole everywhere. We have a 4 yr old Cavachon that just looks at me and whines. He misses her too. We are already looking for another one, that will help a little.

I’m so sorry, Anne.  We just lost our beloved kitty yesterday.  It hurts so much. I’m glad you have Chelsea and Tweety to help with the sorrow.

Big hug from The Netherlands, we know exactly how you feel right now. Couple of months ago we experienced the same with our dog ❤️

    Dearest Anne and family,
My heart aches for your aching heart. It is so brave to take in a rescue pet as they are usually older and not always in peak health and their time with you is less than a puppy or kitten. But YOU did! The love and care you all gave carries on beyond to the next life and I have no doubt they can bless our lives still from the other side.
Big hugs to the Sutton family. We love you so much and grieve with you 💖

I’m so sorry.  It’s the hardest when our beloved pets leave us. Peanut was lucky to have you and I know you feel the same about her.  Sending hugs from Minnesota💔

I’m sooo sorry. They are like our children and no one loves you more than those beautiful babies. Prayers comfort and peace come your way soon.

I can hardly respond through tears myself.  We have lost many over our 47 years of marriage, and each one is hard.  But God seems to open a window and leads us to a new fur baby that needs our love that we would have never gotten to know without the loss.  I am sure they are all romping around together and waiting to be reunited with us again.  Love and comfort to you and your other fur babies as you grieve.

Oh, Anne. Our fur babies really mean so much to us. I still miss Moselle and she’s been gone for three years. She behaved like a dog and followed me everywhere. Sending you warm hugs. 💔🌈💔

So sorry, Anne!  We can get so close to pets that they are almost like our children.  That photo of Chelsea and Tweety is so sweet.  Hugs to you!

I’m so sorry for your loss of precious Peanut.  As Tweety comforts Chelsea, I hope they both bring comfort to you.  We lost our beloved Shadow in 2017, and I still miss him.  We have 2 1/2 year old Ranger, a lab mix, who brings joy to our lives and makes us laugh every day.  He and our cat, Buster, were rescues like yours.  Blessings to you and your family.

Adopting a senior dog is such a wonderful thing to do. You knew that you would not have her for too many years and that saying goodbye would hurt so badly – although I am sure you never guessed that her time with you would be so short – but you gave her a forever home anyway. I hope the knowledge that she went from being abandoned and unconscious in someone’s front yard to being a beloved family member gives you some peace as you grieve. The matriarch of our girls, Sam, has hemangiosarcoma and we lose her a little more every day. We may be down to weeks so I share your pain. I pray that you feel all the love your readers are sending to you.

I am so sorry you lost Peanut.  I had to say goodbye to my 18- year old cat last year.  My heart still aches for my quilting buddy whenever I get near my sewing machine.  I wish you well and send you lots of big hugs.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Anne!  She had a wonderful life with you.   I so feel your pain – losing a piece of your heart.

Oh Anne that is so sad.  You will be able to reminisce about the time you spent together and that will help.  I love the photo of Tweety who obviously understands how Chelsea feels.  Animals are complex and it always surprises me that people treat them so appallingly.  There is nothing different from a farm animal kept in terrible conditions and a beloved pet, we need to stop and take a moment to change the way we think of animals.

I do know exactly how you feel! My beloved Clementine died in my arms 8 and a half years ago and I still miss her terribly! She was my beautiful white American Bulldog with piggy ears, an adorable underbite and a nub tail. She was my shadow for the 11 and a half years we were blessed to have her. We adopted her at about 11 weeks old. She loved to chomp at sprinklers and water coming out of a hose! The hole neighborhood loved her! She had a tumor on her heart and we could not fix it, so we had to let her go. I truly believe she is in heaven and we will see her again. Time does help but we still miss our beloved pets so much. I believe they are little persons of fur! LOL! May God ease your pain and give you comfort!
