Make a List for 2018!

Chelsea and I each made a bucket list back in 2011, and I found a copy of it today.  Six years later and we haven’t completed much on our list.  Chelsea’s still waiting for her pink convertible, and I’m still trying to organize my photos.

The beautiful thing about this list is that it’s New Year’s Eve and we have another full year to complete it!  I told her I think we need to review and set more realistic goals for 2018.  She keeps reminding me that she’s getting older and wants to update her list with things like a fluffy new bed.

She’s been lounging around today watching me fill up my market basket with goodies to give away tomorrow.

The basket is bursting at the seams, and I can hardly lift it!  I’ve been collecting things all year, and there are 12 bags of treats inside!  We’re going to pick 12 winners tomorrow, and each one is going to get a treat bag!

All you have to do to win is leave me a comment telling me if you’ve ever done a bucket list.  Do you think it’s a good idea to do a yearly bucket list?  One that you can review at the end of each year to see how much you’ve accomplished? Do you have any other ideas for organizing in 2018?

Chelsea and I will be back tomorrow with a list of 12 winners.

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I can’t say that I have ever had a bucket list. I always have a list of projects to start, and hopefully, to complete. I have spent the last four days in my studio cleaning and getting rid of excess paper (those projects I will never do in my lifetime). Was able to empty two large 3-ring binders. Woohoo!  Considered keeping a journal of finished projects, but that means I would have to know where it is when needed.

This is the first year that I’m actually making a list of things I’d like to accomplish – I’m hoping it keeps me heading in the right direction!

I don’t make bucket lists. I just keep moving from one thing to the next. I like to enjoy life one day at a time and hope it includes lots of sewing!

I’ve never made a bucket list before but, I think it’s time to start.  You have inspired me.  I’m going to make a list with my husband.  As for organizing, ha ha, that is my biggest challenge and my New Years resolution.

I’ve set goals, mostly quilty goals, but I wouldn’t call the lists bucket lists.  They do help me achieve more than I would otherwise, I think.

Happy New Year!    Hi, 65 years old, 4 children,  6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and still going strong.  I have never done a bucket list except in my mind.   Finally, I get to retire to Sew, Sew and Sew!   That’s my bucket list!  I love being creative.  Bringing my visions alive with fabric!    I’m so excited!!   I’ve never won anything except my wonderful family!  I finally have a sewing room so in 2018 you know what I’ll be doing!!

Well, I’ve always called it a life list and it is without narrow time constraints. ( like a year..). Saw the three tenors and bicycled in France but my photos remain in boxes. I want to hear the Mormon tabernacle choir….but perhaps I’ll label a few photos first.  Good luck with your list. Toni

I’ve never put a list down on paper, but I’ve always got “I’d like to list.” inside my head. My BIG idea for 2018 is to make a monthly goal. 12 different goals to try to complete. One for each month. The exciting part is I get to start fresh every month! I know organizing a few cupboards and closets will be on that list.

After surviving pancreatic cancer almost 5 years ago (!) I made a bucket list of the quilts I already owned pattern, fabric, etc for that I wanted to be sure I finished to see with my own eyes before my life ends.  I am still chipping away at it but progressing!

I don’t do bucket lists. I have projects I want to complete, but their priorities shift. And lists for life seem too finite .
Always love seeing pictures of Chelsea! Happy New Year!

I have not done a bucket list, however I do set goals and review/adjust as needed about every 6  months 😀. That basket looks like it has some fun things in it!

I do a list for quilts I want to do and have in progress – find it keep me on track and I think I get way more accomplished – plus there is something so rewarding about crossing something off the list.  Of course, I keep adding to the list so it never gets shorter but I am getting so many of the “someday I want to make” quilts done.   For the rest of life – no list – just enjoys what comes along or work my way through it – whichever applies.

Yes, i have done a bucket list. Last time i did one it made me have an anxiety attack. I have accomplished some of the works in progress, some i just took off the list cause i dont want to do them anymore, and I gave those away. Sure did take down my stash by giving away a bunch of fabric i no longer wanted to a lady who makes charity quilts. Now I have room for projects I want to do, such as your last Christmas quilt ;with the stockings. Happy New Year to you and to Chelsea. .

I DO have a bucket list….but not a big one. Most of it involves quilting related items, the rest is travel. One of the biggest items was fulfilled in 2015….went to Sisters OR quilt show.

I haven’t really written down a bucket list but I do have a mental one.  Every time I accomplish one I announce to my family that I’ve completed something on my bucket list.  For example, I’m afraid of heights and went zip lining while we were in Hawaii.  I wasn’t going to let my fear ruin something I really wanted to do, even though I almost peed my pants!  Thank you for the chance to win some goodies.  Happy New Year!

Just today my daughter (who  lives in California) and I (who lives in Texas) discussed what was on our personal lists for the New Year. It’s funny how we have similar items to accomplish next year but different. The one thing that was very important for both of us was our promised to make more opportunities to visit by phone and in person, It’s always good to say how much we love each other in a conversation but it’s priceless to look in her eyes and hug her when saying it. <3

happy New Year to you and Chelsea. i have never made an official bucket list but make lists of unfinished quilt projects. Eventually I find the list buried under fabric and can maybe cross off one but console myself that I have started and finished projects that never made the list. This year is the “finish it year” For reals!!!lol

I haven’t done a bucket list, but have a few things that I really want to get done, sooner than later I think…  I want to make a simple quilt for my young grand daughter, and finish a quilt top that my grandmother made many years ago.  She sewed it all by hand with such tiny little stitches, and I treasure it so much.  I think it is a good thing to write down the things that I want to get done this year, and make sure that I take time to work on them each month.  Thank you for the encouragement.

I have made bucket lists but get distracted with day to day life and unexpected surprises.  I think lists are great but being spontaneous is great too and sometimes more fun

  • Ann in PA

I had a list of UFO and WIP on my old computer …even had a list of  patterns & fabrics needed, plus threads & floss….lost it all when the computer crashed!  I think it’s good to make a list~ even if you check off just a few items, it feels good to set goals. Happy New Year!

I have never done a bucket list…  I do have a Tah-Dah list though.  Hanging on my studio wall where I note what I’ve finished!!!

  • Pauline

No, I have never made a bucket list, but I think it would be a good idea.  As I get older I seem to do less…so I accomplish less, It might motivate me,  I don’t want to fail….I’m going to keep it realistic but not too easy.  I’ve always wanted to have a quilting project published in a magazine.  OK, that may be the start of my bucket list and probably the hardest to cross off.  I’ll give it some thought tomorrow and hopefully I can come up with a short list.
Happy New Year Anne, all the best in 2018!

I have a list for this year. Had one last year and completed all 12 not all were on my list as babies, and weddings got in the way. It felt so good to get back to quilting after 2 years of cancer treatments. Hopefully I can stay on task this year too. The other thing on my list is to enjoy life and continue to teach my to granddaughters to sew and quilt.

I love to dream and wish!  Why not!  Some days our lives and world can seem overwhelming so quilting and/or planning a new adventure can be calming!
I have an UFO list and it helps me focus on those unfinished projects!  January 1st is a great day to meditate and think about plans for 2918!  Happy New Year to you and your family!

My bucket list is mainly to enjoy each day…..travel when the opportunity presents itself & not wait for retirement. So far my husband & I have had some wonderful adventures! We thank God for those opportunities and those in the future!  Happy New Year!

  • Judy lawrance

I have never made a bucket list but it sounds like a good idea that might help me to make an inroad in some of my unfinished projects!!!

  • Stephanie Doda

I love lists!  They can be project lists, organization lists or bucket lists.  I have made them all and completed most of them.  This year I am concentrating on my UFO’s.

  • Linda Caldwell

My bucket list usually just includes the quilts I want to make in the next year.  And the organization I want to do. I know this is not truly a bucket list but more of a to do list.

  • Carol Richards

The first think on my list is to organize my sewing room.  It is very small and the first one I’ve ever had!  Now to find room for everything.  Second is to finish a couple of Christmas quilts before Valentine’s day!  Love your products.

  • Gale

My bucket list is very short, only two things on it.  This summer I managed, with the help of my hubby (pilot) to do one.  We flew through Western Brook Gorge, part of Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada.  Truly Awesome!!!

  • Paulette Rea

I’ve never made a list but I’m thinking about it this year ! It might help me to accomplish a couple of goals lol!  Like this year I only got half my Christmas ” to dos ” completed. I’ll let you know if it helps 💕

  • Mary Snyder

I really don’t make a bucket list, but do occasionally make short lists to work on for the month.  Not everything gets completed.  Seems I don’t need the bucket list, all I have to do is walk into my sewing room and the all that should be on the list jumps out at me and says, “pick me next.”  For 2018 my goal is to organize my sewing room which is long, long overdue.

I finally graduated in 2017 from college at 54 and my bestie gave ma a small bucket with these little cards to put what I wanted to do.  The first thing I wrote was to visit New England.  The next week was my graduation and my husband and daughter gave me a trip with my daughter to Salem, Mass. which I have always wanted to go!  I think I am a believer of making a bucket list because you never know when others can make some of those events happen!
    Happy New Year

Chelsea is so adorable and I totally cracked up at her bucket list!!  I don’t have one, but y’all have inspired me to make one.  I think it’s a great idea to review the bucket list and check off things you’ve done, or remove things that now don’t sound like something you want to do!! Thanks for the laugh and for the giveaway!! Happy New Year!!!

I have done a bucket list and need to start another one…. sometimes it helps me keep focused. I like to keep a list of my shortest term projects… middle of the road projects and then what I consider some that will take time to complete…. my EPP projects tend to be my long term projects for the most part. Sometimes it’s good to review projects… I have on rare occasion a project that for one reason or another I’m no longer interested in… it’s better if I make that decision and move on. With a list like that that extends over the year I find easier to accomplish more. My long term projects move on to another year but that’s ok as I am making progress. It’s fun to cross off the complete ones. Being a pretty compulsive person makes it easy for me to keep my projects organized along with my sewing room and I find it gives me the time to add in a few things that have come along over time to squeeze in and complete during the year. My goal when I retired was to quilt every day and so far I’m right on track.
