• Cubby Shelf Storage

I’ve spent the weekend cleaning in the studio.  When I’m busy working on new things organization gets away from me and after market it’s time to gather everything up once again and find a place for it.   Cubby shelves are perfect for storage in a sewing room.  They don’t use valuable floor space and they put things in site that you might use daily. I purchased this shelf at Pottery Barn and I decided to fill it with my ribbon spools.  I love it when I can see what I have in one place.  For me (and probably quite a few of you) if it’s out of sight it’s out…

  • Tiny Shamrock Flowers

These tiny shamrock flowers are blooming in my studio.  In the mornings they open with the first light, and as the day goes on they start to close.  They follow the light actually turning with the sun.   By evening they’ve completely closed, resting for the night and storing energy to begin the process once again when morning comes.  All of this from a flower not more than 1″ in size when fully open. Just look at the leaves; a deep purple center changing to rich green around the edges.  It’s a bit of a spindly plant, but what it lacks in fullness it makes up for in color.  I planted…

  • Live to dance?

We had a treat this past weekend.  We watched our granddaughters dance in their yearly recital. They’ve done competitive dance for the past 7 or 8 years.  They practice for hours every week, with only 6 weeks off during the summer.  The commitment is big, but both of them are dedicated. My oldest granddaughter Michaela, is a medical miracle, and every time I watch her dance I’m reminded of this (she’s on the left in the photo below).  She was premature (3 1/2 lbs at birth).  When she was 4 she had a chest  x-ray for a cough that wouldn’t go away.  The radiologist discovered, quite by accident, that she…

  • Sewing with friends

When you start the day with flowers and friends it just doesn’t get any better……unless you add sewing to the mix!  Friday was Mollie Makes day at Bunny Hill and we spent the day sewing with friends! My friend Chickie brought show and tell;  beautiful Scrappy Plate blocks as only Chickie can do.  She’s appliqued them on linen and when she’s finished the applique she’ll add a crochet flower and covered button to the center of each block.  I can’t wait to see her finished quilt! Chickie’s project for the day was  the fabric clutch featured in Mollie Makes Issue #14.   Here’s the fabric she used for the clutch……

  • A girl named Mollie Makes it big!

Say hello to Mollie, from Mollie Makes Magazine! She’s famous now that she has her own magazine,  Mollie Makes.  She made it to the top almost overnight because of readers like you who love to craft.  Mollie Makes magazine has a little something for everyone as you’ll see this weekend if you join Bunny Hill on Facebook or right here on this blog. Who knew Mollie Makes magazine would be so “hot” in the magazine world?  Try and find that very first issue and you’ll see what “hot” really means.  It’s almost impossible to find one, even on eBay.  If you do find it, you’ll definitely have to hand over…

  • Cobbler on the trees

The weather was hot but no one seemed to mind.  The fruit was ripe for the picking and waiting for us.  The area I live in is known for growing fruits and vegetables.  At this time of year people come from all over to participate in the harvest. Since I live in this area I sometimes forget that not everyone has access to orchards like these.    I turned around just as we were walking into one of the orchards and this is what I saw… Did you have any idea fruit picking could be so popular? So much fruit just waiting to be picked.  We are blessed with an…
