• Good Books to Read

I love to curl up with a good mystery book and I’ve been reading some really good ones lately. To those of you who told me about the J.D. Robb books,  I can’t thank you enough.  The only problem is, now I’m addicted.  I’ve read them ALL and I can’t wait for new ones.  When I hear she has a new book coming out, I schedule it into my calendar so I won’t forget.  I was so excited when I saw her latest book, Calculated in Death!   I wasn’t disappointed.  It’s a good book and worth reading.  Give me more books with her main character, Eve Dallas,  and I’ll be…

  • Snowmen Warm Your Heart

I can never get enough snowmen.  There’s just something about the little guys that makes me happy! When I was at Fall market last October I saw Lisa’s Snowman Gatherings fabric and I had to have it. Now, a few months later, we’ve turned it into a new version of Postcard Cuties for Winter! We made the snowmen from wool and used a jelly roll, charm pack and a bit of yardage for the remainder of the quilt.   I’m busy updating the pattern and the new version should be ready in a few weeks.  The fabric doesn’t ship until April so you’ll have to wait a bit.  We hope…

  • On my iPad

I finished all of the JD Robb “In Death” series books.  Thanks to all of you, because I never would have known about this series if you hadn’t recommend it.   I read every single one, including her newest!  As far as I’m concerned J.D. Robb can’t write them fast enough.  Once you start with these books you can’t stop and now that I’ve finished them I’m going through withdrawal.   Currently on my iPad is a series of Louise Penny books, the chief inspector Gamache novels.  I started with “A Fatal Grace” (should have started with “Still Life” but didn’t know it was the first in the series) and…

  • Shabby

My husband will NEVER understand shabby.  To him shabby is wood waiting to be thrown away.  All the years we’ve been married I’ve tried to make him understand…no honey I don’t want it painted.  I want it to look just like it is!   Now, when he does paint something he’s come around to doing what he calls distressing.  Trust me he doesn’t know the meaning of the word but at least he’s trying. When this little step stool arrived in the mail last week I was so glad he wasn’t home to see it.  I’m not sure he could have survived the shock. To think that I spent money on…

  • Share your “reads” with me

Two of my favorite past-times:  Looking through magazines or reading a good book.  It’s what I do every evening to unwind from the day.  I’m getting desperate for more books to read so if you’ve read a good book share it!  Mysteries are my favorite but I’m open to any good book.  I love a series so I can read on when I’m done with one book.   I’m reading Lisa Gardener’s book called Catch Me.  I’ve read almost all of James Paterson and the whole Stephanie Plum series from Janet Evanovich.   I know there must be book lovers out there reading away and enjoy books I haven’t read.  Help!…
