• Close to Home in 2014

It’s amazing to me how life works. A choice I made last year, affects things in a much bigger way than I could have imagined. All of a sudden I stand back and say “now I see, I was supposed to be here”.   I decided in September that I would stay closer to home in 2014.  The next quilt market is in Pittsburgh in May, and for the first time in my career I’ve decided to sit one out.   This was not an easy decision for me, but at the time my reasoning was it was too far to travel, I needed a break, and I didn’t want the…

  • Marcel meet Rudy

There I was taking photos of Rudy, my latest Petite pattern. Rudy’s getting ready for market, and a few friends joined him… Poor Rudy, it’s getting a bit crowded around here…   But there’s always room for one more don’t you think? Especially for a black cat named Marcel! Wish I could fit him in my suitcase! Rudy and I are leaving for Houston today and Marcel has to stay home.   Poor Marcel!  I’m sure he’d be a hit at market. Hugs, Anne

  • Capture those pet moments

Pets are a source of continuous smiles for most of us, but taking photos of them is something we don’t do often enough.  There are endless photo moments I don’t want to miss, so I’ve begun carrying my iPhone in my pocket so I can snap a picture anytime.  For example… …Camouflage… Pumpkin knows the secrets of camouflage. Lay really still and curl up in a big wood bowl, no one will notice you.  Well, almost no one.  I don’t recommend this as a decorating idea, but Pumpkin sure thought it was great. …and Chelsea’s been playing around with my iPhone taking self portraits.  I hope she doesn’t start doing Instagram!…

  • Bitsy Button Sutton

I knew the day would come when we had to say goodbye to our sweet Bitsy.  But time caught all of us by surprise this week, as she went into severe kidney failure.  We couldn’t turn it around.  We said goodbye to her yesterday, and she died in my arms.  I would have gone with her if I could have. She was our companion, a best friend and she gave us unconditional love.  I feel so empty now that she is gone, like my heart has been hollowed.  I see her everywhere. Chelsea and Mooch were her friends and I know the house must feel empty for them too.   When…

  • Home again

Quilt Market was wonderful.   My booth was part of what Moda calls ” The Designer Studio”.  Many of the Moda designers shared space, making up 2 long rows of booth space with no walls in-between.   Being surround by my favorite Moda designers was so much fun and we had a great time. Here’s a photo of one side of the Designer Studio.   Barb and Mary have a great blog post showing all the Moda designers at market.  Thank goodness Barb and Mary thought to take the photos of everyone. Moda’s Designer Studio ended up winning a ribbon for Best Merchandising! And when I came home guess who came along…

  • A Jelly Roll Bikini

Did you know that March is National Craft Month?  Yep, it’s a month to stay home from work and join us on a island retreat over at Moda.  If I’m going to be on an an island for a month, I told Chelsea she could come along too.  She got all excited when I let her try on a jelly roll strip for her Bikini top.  I swear it almost didn’t fit! Now she’s waiting for me to make her a bikini bottom to wear on the island.  She wants to look good if everyone is going, so I’ll have to take my “bodkin” on the retreat to pull the…
