Meet Lucy, A Very Special Dog Indeed
Today is National Love Your Pet Day, and it’s the perfect time to introduce you to my latest senior rescue dog, Lucy Mittens Sutton! If you remember, In my last post, I was trying to decide if Rosie needed another friend for comfort. When I saw this little dog on the Muttville website, I knew she was the one for us. My husband encouraged me to adopt her, and in early November, she became the newest addition to our family. She is our 4th senior rescue from Muttville. Mittens is the name Muttville gave her, so I’ve kept it as her middle name, but Lucy fits her better! Lucy arrived…

Four Pack Sadness Around Here
It’s been such a difficult few months for me, and I know you will understand. My four-pack has become a one-pack, and I miss these babies so much. Upper left: Tinkerbell, Center: Rosie, Upper right: Chelsea, and front right: Gracie We said goodbye to Tinkerbell a year ago around this time. She was my first rescue from Muttville in San Francisco. We had to say goodbye to Chelsea in September of this year. She suffered from congestive heart failure and, towards the end, could hardly breathe. I’ve had her since she was a baby, and she lived to be 16 1/2, so this was an extremely hard one for…

She’s not a morning person
We had to leave early to get to the vet by 7:30 for check-in yesterday. It wasn’t easy because Chelsea is definitely not a morning person dog. I dropped her off, and by 8:30, her Dr. was calling me. She did a chest x-ray to check her heart and lungs before she put her under anesthesia. Her lungs were a little cloudy, and her heart was larger than she wanted it to be, so no surgery right now. She has congestive heart failure, so putting her under anesthesia like this isn’t a good idea. She’s increased her diuretic to 3 times a day, and hopefully, we can get the fluid…

This girl is 16
It’s time for a Chelsea update. At 16, she’s officially the oldest Bunny Hill employee, and as I sit here watching her, I can’t believe she’s been with me for almost as long as I’ve been designing. I started my business 20 years ago, and I’m surprised I could even design before I got her! She’s been my daily partner while I work; she gives me advice, helps me pick out colors, and helps run my giveaways. Her view of the world is one I live by; Be friendly to everyone. Start every day with a walk around the park. Eat breakfast every day. Take naps when you’re tired and…

My sweet Tinkerbell
As most of you know, I adopt senior dogs, and I have to say it’s one of the most rewarding things in my life. When you bring an old dog into your family, you know their time with you will be shorter than with younger dogs, but you never really think about that. Yesterday I had to say goodbye to Tinkerbell. She spent the week being treated for an unknown illness, and we watched her progressively worsen each day. She had test after test, IV after IV, plasma, and ultrasounds. By yesterday she could no longer stand, eat or drink. Three different doctors could not figure out what was wrong…

perfectly imperfect
As national dog day becomes national dog week at my house, we have a new addition to our family to tell you about! You know I have a weakness for Terriers, right? So meet our new perfectly imperfect senior, Tinkerbell. We’ve only had her for two months, but I am officially declaring her a family member. Actually, I declared her a family member on day one! She fits right in! She’s great with Chelsea, great with our kitties, and adores everyone she meets! ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We adopted her from Muttville, a senior dog rescue in San Francisco. I feel like we found a real treasure! Just look at that face!…
