She’s not a morning person

We had to leave early to get to the vet by 7:30 for check-in yesterday.  It wasn’t easy because Chelsea is definitely not a morning person dog.

I dropped her off, and by 8:30, her Dr. was calling me.  She did a chest x-ray to check her heart and lungs before she put her under anesthesia.  Her lungs were a little cloudy, and her heart was larger than she wanted it to be, so no surgery right now.  She has congestive heart failure, so putting her under anesthesia like this isn’t a good idea.  She’s increased her diuretic to 3 times a day, and hopefully, we can get the fluid off her lungs.  One thing for sure is I will be getting myself out of bed in the middle of the night to take her out, and because the chances are good that it will be raining, I’ll be in my pajamas, trying to hold an umbrella over both of us.  I can’t let that little old body get cold and wet.  She’s been potty trained so well that she will only go outside.  I think I missed something during potty training.

Her eye has filled with fluid again; I think that’s good, and she doesn’t seem to be in any pain.  Her Dr. will recheck her eye next week.  For now, we continue as we’ve been doing.  She said it could rupture again, but we can’t do surgery until her body tells us we can.  So, she has a heated bed and lots of TLC for now.

Thank you for all your comments on my last post. I loved reading them.

Somehow I’ve missed  these posts on Chelsea‼️. I’ve watched her darling little self over the years and hope she is doing well. She has always looked like she was Miss Personality and I know she has been and will continue to be your BFF. 💕💕

The picture I have of you walking your beloved Chelsea in the middle of the night, in the rain, in your jammies, is one of pure love. Anyone who has ever owned a pet or two or six can understand the stress of having one who lives long enough to have health issues.  We’ll do anything to spare our furry companions any undue pain or discomfort.  With your patience and a little help from your friends, she (and you) will get through this. ❤️

Like the Tin Man said so eloquently, you know you have a heart because it’s breaking.  Bless your tender and caring heart.

You are such a good mom to Chelsea.  I know that the love flows both ways between you. And good of her doctors to err on the side of caution.  Sending healing thoughts to Chelsea and a warm hug your way.

Oh, she’s so precious. Even when she’s not feeling good, she’s so darling. Bless you for loving her and taking such good care of her . . . even in your PJs out in the rain.

I’m so sorry you are both going thru this. Our dogs are so special to us  and it is hard to see them get older. Hopes and prayers for a good outcome.

Poor little Chelsea. Getting old is no picnic – for humans or for animals. I hope she is comfy til her next medical adventure.
