• Vintage Brick Mold

Thought I’d share my latest purchase with you, a vintage brick mold that I found while shopping at Terrain.  If you haven’t been to one of their stores or browsed their website, you’re in for a treat!  It’s my favorite place to shop for gardening, decorating, terrariums, and so much more. Terrain uses this vintage brick mold as a container for succulents. I use mine as a Foxly container… …but it also holds fat quarters like it was made for them! Come Christmas it will be holding snowmen or some other cute things I can find. How fun that they found these molds and were able to get enough to sell to…

  • Orchids

Last October I purchased two live orchids from Pottery Barn.  I ordered two plants, thinking it would increase my chance of success.  The plants bloomed for almost two months and I was thrilled, but of course eventually the blooms died and I was left with two plants to care for.  The Pottery Barn website gives detailed instructions on how to care for your orchids, and I was surprised to read that the best care is a bit of neglect.  “Water: Water lightly every 20–30 days, if needed. Best if allowed to almost dry out between watering. Check the medium with your finger; if you feel moisture, do not water. ”…

  • Miniature Garden

A friend gave me the prettiest glass jar that’s the perfect size for a spring terrarium.   I just couldn’t resist making one!   I found everything I needed on Amazon.  I ordered a terrarium kit with activated charcoal, little rocks, potting soil and moss.  Then I ordered some little miniature plants, just the perfect size! If you’ve never made a terrarium, they’re really easy.  Layer the charcoal in the bottom of the jar, then layer the rocks and finally the soil.  Plant the miniature plants, top off with moss and give each plant a drink of water.  Here’s the best thing;  terrariums thrive on neglect!  I only water when the…

  • Michelle lives in Portland

Project Runway Do you watch Project Runway?  I tape all the shows just so I don’t miss one.  If you were cheering for Michelle when she won Project Runway, you are not alone, and guess what?  She lives in Portland, right where quilt market is going to be (ok, maybe not right where quilt market is, but I’m sure she’s close by).  I would love, love, love to meet her!  She should be an inspiration to all of us because she picked herself up when she was down and came out on top. Holly Hill Also very near Portland is a fabulous quilt shop called Holly Hill.  It’s a must…
