Blockheads

BH4, Blocks 12, 13 & 14

Here’s some news for those who are sewing along on Moda’s Blockheads 4:  Once you finish Block 14, you are halfway through the quilt! Let me re-word that; you are halfway through the designer blocks. You’ll need to choose two bonus blocks to have 30 blocks. When I started this sew-along, I was only going to make 25 blocks. But now I’ve changed my mind, and I’m going for all 30. This quilt will be for me; I don’t get to do many of these. The colors I’m working with are feminine, and the blocks are designed by friends. Who can ask for more? It may be taking me forever, but I’m enjoying every minute.

#12, Friendship Star

“Friendship Star” is one of my favorite quilt blocks, and it’s brought to us by Deb Strain, who is the perfect friend to many of us. She is one of those people everyone enjoys being around. She’s designed fabric for Moda forever, and her hand-painted artwork is amazing. I wish I could be at Moda when she submits a new line. It would be something to see!

#13, Evening Delight

“Evening Delight,” block 13, is brought to us by Debbie Maddy of Tiori Designs. Debbie travels all over teaching classes on how to dye fabric, and Indigo colors are her trademark.

#14, Bird On A Branch

“Bird On A Branch” Block 14 is brought to us by the one and only Jan Patek. If you love applique, you will love this block. It’s the only applique block in this quilt and the one I’ve loved making the most! Her little bird is so sweet that I’m thinking about using her again in my finished quilt. We’ll see; I’ll have to decide as I go along. Jan gave us an applique pattern that is perfect for beginners and fun for the more experienced. Enjoy!

I’ll be back this week with three more blocks and there’s a possibility I may be caught up.  This is the first time I’ve done a sew-along like this, and keeping up is not as easy as I thought it would be.  If you’re making this quilt, how are you doing?

Back soon,

Anne
