Waiting and Waiting

It seems like so long ago that I introduced you to Crystal Lane.  There’s always a long stretch of time between when we show you a new line and when the line actually arrives in shops.  For Crystal Lane, this stretch is longer than normal.  She’s been on schedule to arrive around the middle of April, but I’ve heard from Moda that she’s running about 4 to 6 weeks late.

Because of Covid, there have been delays and backups at the ports. Crystal is waiting for her turn, and I’ll let you know as soon as she arrives. I think she’s in good company as most fabric lines are running late. They will all catch up at some point, but it’s out of everyone’s control for now.

Crystal Lane was such a fun line to play with.  Once I submitted it to Moda, and it was in the schedule,  I couldn’t stop designing with this fabric.  There’s something about blue and white that is so refreshing and fun!  You can tell in the photo below that I’m a pink girl (yes, I do have a lot of pink storage boxes), but I was more than happy to make room for Crystal’s blue and white.  If I’d had more time, I could have come up with more and more things to make with Crystal Lane.  It’s a good thing there are catalog deadlines that we have to meet.

There’s a box of Crystal Lane scraps from Moda sitting in my garage right now, just waiting to be bagged up.  So, while we’re waiting for Crystal Lane to arrive, I’ll make myself drag them out, and I’ll bag them.  I’ll let you know when I have them on our website.

Oh, and you see some of the goodies on my cutting table?  Let’s do a giveaway for a chance to win some of them!  Charm squares, a layer cake, a honey bun, and even that fat quarter bundle.  And, if you are the winner of the Crystal Lane Honey Bun, I’ll include one of the panels from this line so you can start making the Wintertime quilt below.

All you have to do to be entered in my giveaway is tell me what type of pre-cut you “go to” the most and why.  Is it a mini charm, charm pack, layer cake, fat eighth bundle, fat quarter bundle, or maybe Moda’s new hexie package?

So check back right here on this blog post, Thursday morning, April 1st, to see if you’re a winner!

The Crystal Lane Layer Cake goes to Caje Kristie Michalowski.

Thanks for entering everyone!  I’ll be sending the blog winners a Crystal Lane panel too!  You can make some really cute Christmas gifts with a panel, some Crystal Lane fabric, and some trims.  Happy sewing everyone!

Back soon!

The pre-cut fabrics that I visit a lot to are Moda’s new hexie package. The shape of the hexie reminds me of one of my favourite hobbies that is counted cross stitching, my second is quilting. I am thinking about a project in mind. I love Beatrix Potter. I have a lot of her patterned cross stitch design. I would like to stitch the charted designs onto a hexagon shaped fabric (25 ct.)I will pre-cut the linen into a hexagon shape & stitch all of my Beatrix Potter designs onto the fabric. I will have to purchase Moda’s new fabric line & cut the new material into the hexagon shape.Obviously the next plan is to make a quilt from the cross stitched hexagons & cutout hexagon shape from Noda’s new fabric line. I need to plan my next step. How will I plan, the detail layout of the quilt. I am not there yet! I need to kick my butt into gear, to start stitching a lot of  Beatrix Potter designs onto the hexagon fabric! I hope this all makes sense to you! Thank you for reading…kind regards, Sandra

I used to go to charm packs the most but since all the other pre cuts have come along I have been getting them all.  They are an easy way to get every fabric in the line.  The honey bun with the panel pictures above is darling.  I am a red and white gal but that quilt has taken my eye

I usually go for charm packs for budgetary reasons. Otherwise it would be fat quarter bundles all the way – no question!
