Welcome “Peanut” Sutton

It’s been almost 6 months since I said goodbye to Milkshake and I haven’t thought about getting another dog until last month. Chelsea and our Tweety cat have become good friends, and Tweety spends a lot of time giving Chelsea “head butts.” But Tweety can’t go on walks or car rides with her, and he doesn’t help her bark at the UPS man.  Those are important things for a dog.

So, we decided to look for a senior dog that could become a companion for all of us!  I’ve spent weeks looking at rescue sites, but my heart really wanted another Toy Fox Terrier.  We’ve had two, Bitsy Button and Milkshake and I’ve come to love this breed.  When I saw her on the Toy Fox Terrier Rescue Facebook page, I knew she was the one for us. This little dog touched my heart.

We don’t know much about her. She was found unconscious in someone’s front yard. The pads on her feet were burned, and she barely weighed 6 pounds. Animal control was called and from that point on her life would change. She received medical attention and waited for someone to claim her. When no one did, the shelter scheduled her to become a prison therapy dog. The Toy Fox Terrier rescue heard about her and wanted her to have a forever home instead. They found a foster mom to take her, and they put her up for adoption on their website. That’s when I saw her!

We’ve had her for three weeks, and she fits in perfectly.  She’s a tiny little thing, so we’ve named her Peanut.  She’s approximately 8 years old, loves people, loves Chelsea, and she’s good around our cats.  When you take on a rescue, you never know what their life has been like.  Loud noises scare her, she’s afraid of anything that drops, and she has no idea how to play with toys.   I know that gentle love and kindness can help with anything and she’ll have plenty of that here.

Tweety has decided he really likes her, and he’s started giving her “head butts.”  She doesn’t seem to mind at all.  Welcome to our family Peanut!

She is a sweet little thing to be sure!  My brother and his wife have had several rescue dogs, and we’ve seen some behavioral issues, fear and other things that go along with an animal who has experienced some kind of trauma.  My family has always been so loving and supportive, and that’s just what these special pets need.  I know Peanut with get this in your care too, Anne.  She’s adorable, and I’m so glad that your home is now her home :)
