sewing from the little traveller book
It’s been such a joy to stitch these little characters from Simone Gooding’s new book Little Traveller. The book is delightful, and sewing with wool felt is pure fun! Here’s my version of “Twig,” the squirrel. The book will also show you how to knit some cute accessories, but for this photo shoot, I used a few acorns.
I couldn’t stop after Twig, so I made “Evie” as a friend for Twig. She’s a tiny doll I know my grand-daughters will enjoy! I’m sure if Maya were here she’d be tucking Evie into this little doll house crib. I gave Evie a little kitty to hold (yes, there’s that little kitty button I showed you in my last post).
And thanks to Cosmo I had even more fun stitching up these projects using their new 40 wt. thread, “tsu mu gi”. It was the perfect thread to use for these tiny projects. I reduced the stitch length on my machine to just under 2.0, used a pre-wound bobbin and an 80/12 Microtex needle. The 40wt. thread is a 2-ply thread that’s stronger than a 50wt. and yet delicate enough for these tiny stitches. I’ll be adding a few colors to our website soon.
If you click on over to Amazon, you can see more projects in Simone’s book. It’s one I’ll be using again soon because there’s a really cute bunny I want to add to my collection. Happy Spring everyone!
