The Splendid Sampler
If I handed you 100 free block patterns and told you that they would become a precious gift if you made them, would you pick your most treasured fabrics? Would you treat each block as if were something you’d be handing down to your family? Would you do your very best sewing and enjoy every moment? Would you schedule time every week for a year to finish this precious gift?
Start picking your best fabrics (the fabrics that touch your heart when you look at them) and get ready for the gift of the year from Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson! These two designers are giving the quilting community 100 free quilt blocks, throughout 2016 and into 2017. You’ll meet 83 designers who have each designed a block, and you’ll learn new techniques along the way. This is something you don’t want to miss! You can read all about it on The Splendid Sampler website. Click on the “about” link at the top of the Splendid Sampler page, and information will come your way!
In case you think I’ve forgotten to announce the winners of the All in a Row book, rest assured I haven’t! I’ve listed the winners below. If you already have the book, turn to page 65 and check out Janet Clare’s Bunny Playdate. When I saw this row, my heart melted and I was ready for a play-date! Janet has a method of making adjustable templates so you can position your applique bunny in different ways. She uses brads and card-stock! Find some pretty card-stock for these bunnies, and use the templates to decorate a wall or use as gift tags. Janet’s a cover girl on the book and you can see her row second from the top.
If your name and comment are listed below, email me your address because you’ve won a copy of this book!

“I LOVE row quilts and yours are wonderful! I think the red and white sand pails are perfect for summer and the snowmen are so cute! I think I’ll have to buy this book if I don’t win! Too cute for words!”

You may not have won a book today, but we’re all winners thanks to Moda, Martingale, Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson!
Thank you for entering my giveaway and congratulations to the winners.

Anne, I absolutely love this book (thanks SO much) and am wondering how I can find time to make every pattern in it…I truly am! At first glance Janet’s bunnies looked like they could be cousins of your frolicking bunnies we love so much. I may use Janet’s adjustable templates w/ the brads to make some fun garlands for the grandbabies.
And now another temptation! I will definitely be watching The Splendid Sampler and hope to make at least some of those blocks in between my other quilts in progress :)

I love the row quilts, so that will be another one to add to my list of quilts to do.

I’ll have to keep an eye on the Splendid Sampler–it sounds very fun! I received the All in a Row book from you a few days ago–thank you so much! I’ve made one row so far–we’ll see how far I get toward a quilt. Thanks again–it’s a wonderful book.

And, yes, one of the best things about the Row book is the adjustable bunnies. SO darling!

The idea for this splendid sampler quilt is really exciting – and what a generous, wonderful gift from all the quilt designers to share these blocks with us. I can’t wait to see what all these blocks look like and all the new techniques we can learn.
I also read your 5th of the month news today and I’m also so excited to find out about your Halloween designs (I’m somewhat partial to Halloween ‘cuz it’s my b’day!). Everything you do is so wonderful and I know this will be too.
And Congratulations to Rose Marie and to Diane on winning the “All In A Row” book – lucky ladies.
Thanks, Anne!

First thanks for the great package you send me the fabrics are BEAUTIFUL!
I’m almost finished with my Farmer’s Wife 1930s blocks and since I loved to make these 6″ blocks and now have the time for it I’ll definitly will join the Splendid Sampler! But like I did with the Farmer’s Wife quilt I think I break the 100 blocks done into more than 1 quilt because I know I just can’t quilt a quilt that big. Perhaps 3 quilt: 2 with 25 blocks (one set straight, one on point) and 1 quilt with 50 blocks (set on point). Or 2 quilts: one with 64 blocks (8×8) and one with 36 blocks (6×6) … mmmh I need to think about that.
