National Book Lover’s Day!

Finally,  a day for us…the book lovers of the world!   You know who you are!  You get lost in Barnes and Noble and forget the time.  Sometimes you buy a book you can’t resist, only to find out when you get home that you already have it.  You curl up with a good book every chance you get, and I bet you’ve even been known to read while you’re cooking dinner.

I love books so much, I turned our Living Room into a library!  Bookcases line each side of the room, and comfy chairs are tucked into in each corner.

You’ll find everything in my library from the book that started me quilting years ago…

…to the Stitch Zakka book that I have a little project in…

I buy any book published by Country Living…

…and I collect every embroidery book I can find .

I love all of the “Material Obsession” books…

…and books by Harriet Hargrave are the best reference books ever!

Everyone in our family loves books.

Chelsea likes to read about Chihuahuas…

And she also loves books about Christmas Decorating!

She’s trying to understand Crazy Quilting so she studies every book she can find on the subject.

BOOK LOVERS DAY is sponsored by Moda Fabrics so hop on over to the Moda blog and you can enter to win 6 new books.  You’ll also find links to other Moda designers, talking about books on their blogs!   Then sit back, have a cup of tea and relax for a bit with your favorite book.  Oh, and tell me  what you’re reading now and later today I’ll give away two “Stitch Zakka” books!

It’s a great day when you can read a good book.

Anne

Books! I love them! I have about 40 pages left in Winter of the World by Ken Follett, the second book in his Century Trilogy. I also listen to books on tape in the car, almost done with Sing you Home by Jody Picoult. And I got 2 new quilting books in the mail today- Friendship Triangles by Edyta Sitar and Applique and Embroidery by Janice Vaine. Lots of good reading ahead!

Thanks for sharing your inspirations. I have lots of books and can spend hours and hours just looking at books. It is fun to see the various inspirations. My first book was sampler quilt book by Georgia Bonesteel. It’s in the attic with the unfinished king size quilt.

LOVE the book theme – who knew there was a national book lover’s day. currently i’m reading the revised fundamentals of caregiving. there is a fabulous sense of humor with the characters. puts a smile on your face but yet has a wonderful message. can’t wait to reach the end… well, maybe not. it’s sometimes bittersweet to reach the end of a good book.
    THNX for the giveaway!

I am currently reading Maggie Sefton’s book “Cast On Kill Off”. It is a knitting mystery series. I also am a collector of books dealing with any type of fiber arts.

I’m a book lover too! I have books in just about every room of the house. Chelsea looks adorable reading her books. So sweet. Right now I’m reading You on a Diet and Color Mastery.

I am currently reading Between Heaven and Texas by Marie Bostwick and have two books in waiting The giving quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini and Ladies Night by Mary Kay Andrews. Its fun to see what everyone is reading. Have a great day!

If I could talk my husband into it, I’d put bookshelves in every room. I finally made a spreadsheet of all the books I own. I add new books as I buy them and mark if I’ve read them, if they’re hardcover, paperback or ebook. I have a Nook that I bring when I travel as I often read a couple of books a week. On plane trips when I can’t have my Nook on, I bring quilt magazines.
Currently I’m reading some old Ellory Queen short story magazines I found in a box.
I have the Quilts!Quilts!Quilts book too. It taught me a lot of techniques.

I love books too! All kinds…quilt books, cookbooks, fiction, etc. I love Simplify by Camille Rosekelley. Ordered recently Foolproof Machine Quilting to help with my finish. I am new at this. I love your livingroom/library.

Thank you for the fun post and I am reading Skip the Borders by Julie Herman for quilting and Dan Browns Inferno – pretty intense read but good historical fiction! thank you!

I’m loving the new website look, just gorgeous! I’m reading the third installment of the Cobbled Court Quilts series ‘Threading the Needle’.

Chelsea reminds me of my little chihuahua who always got between me and the book I was reading. I would be delighted to receive Stitch Zakka. Currently I’m reading RC Sproul.

I am reading Wedding Quilt by Emilie Richards. I am in two book clubs-one online and one where we meet at a coffee shop. Most of these gals go to my church. We are discussing Family Secrets by Tracie Peterson. I most listen to books while I read or when driving.

Your choices look great! I agree with the Harriet Hargrave comment – her books are packed with information. I’m currently drooling over Rocco Dispirito’s Now Eat This Diet book (am I the only one here who reads cookbooks for entertainment?) but I can’t wait to get the new “Big Book of Nickel Quilts” by Pat Speth and Charlene Thode. I’ve pre-ordered it, and since I can’t have it right now, of course, I’m obsessed with it.

I am reading A Fine Romance by Susan Branch. She and her husband went on a 2 month trip visiting the English countryside and she kept a journal. It is full of photographs and her wonderful watercolor illustrations. The most exciting to read about were her visits to Hill Top Farm, home of Beatrix Potter and Jane Austen’s Chawton. It is a FABULOUS book!
