• Miniature Garden

A friend gave me the prettiest glass jar that’s the perfect size for a spring terrarium.   I just couldn’t resist making one!   I found everything I needed on Amazon.  I ordered a terrarium kit with activated charcoal, little rocks, potting soil and moss.  Then I ordered some little miniature plants, just the perfect size! If you’ve never made a terrarium, they’re really easy.  Layer the charcoal in the bottom of the jar, then layer the rocks and finally the soil.  Plant the miniature plants, top off with moss and give each plant a drink of water.  Here’s the best thing;  terrariums thrive on neglect!  I only water when the…

  • Happy Thursday!

I’ve been busy.  I sent off another fabric line to Moda and it feels so good to have it finished.  I can’t even give you a little hint about it yet, but you’ll be able to tell it’s a Bunny Hill fabric line when you see it.  :>) We’ve got a few Easter Petite kits back in stock on our website.  You still have time to make these cute little ornaments and there are plenty of branches out there to hang them on!   Something about that pastel wool that just makes me smile! Something else has me smiling lately and I thought I’d share it with you. It’s an…

  • APQ Quilt is finished

It seems like forever since I started this quilt.  It was before Christmas, but you know how it is when life gets in the way.  Things got put aside for a while and before I knew it March arrived.   But I finally have a completed quilt and it feels so good!  It was fun to play around with the colors in Plum Sweet.  What a beautiful fabric line and the timing is great.  The fabric has shipped to quilt shops and it’s available now.  Look for Plum Sweet fabric by Blackbird Designs.   I swear any fabric Barb and Alma design is beautiful, but this was one of my favorites. It’s…

  • We Have Winners!

Wow!   Did you find all those letters and now you’re ready to make an alphabet quilt?  I hope you’ve at least saved them to your computer or printed them out, because chances are someday you’ll want them.  If you’re like me, you’ll spend days looking for where you stashed them, and of course you won’t be able to find them.  CAREFULLY put them away where you won’t forget, then tie a string around your finger.   :>) Today we’re announcing winners on our blogs, so be sure and hop over and visit each designer.  Someone’s going to get lucky and it could be you!  Here’s the blog list: FEBRUARY 17… American…

  • Moda Blog Hop!

Welcome to day one of the Moda BLOG hop! Moda assigned me the letter B and soon B’s were all I could think about.  I had the biggest urge to pick up Barbara Brackman’s book and look for blocks beginning with B, like Basket, Broken Dishes, Birds in the Air, Bear Paw, Bethlehem Star, and Bird of Paradise.  It’s enough to drive me BATTY. So instead I got out of bed and biked into Berkeley, wearing baggy burlap bell bottoms, to pick up backing, binding, borders, batting and beige buttons for a baby quilt.  On the way home I bumped into Barbara, Barry, and Billy who were bragging about Bob’s…

  • APQ quilt is quilted!

Nubin Jensen,  a wonderful quilter from Arizona, has been quilting my American Patchwork Tone it Down Quilt.  She sent me some pictures so I could show you how it looks!  The colors been highlighted so you can see the quilting. The fabric is more of a tan color than it looks in the photos. All that’s left to do is to stitch on the binding and add a label!  Kim’s sewing on the binding this weekend for me.  She loves to bind quilts and I hate it. We work so well together!  Then we can stand back and just enjoy looking at this quilt.  We’ll get a full photo very…
