• Winter Wonderland is on the way

For me, it seems like it’s taken forever, but Winter Wonderland is finally shipping this week!  You’ll be able to find it at your local quilt store, or favorite online shop very soon.  Just picture those UPS trucks filled with boxes of Winter Wonderland fabric, leaving the Moda warehouse.  It must be a sight to see. One of the Winter Wonderland fabrics I’m most excited about is this cute snowman panel! It comes with a white or red background!  When I designed this panel I was thinking of all the projects you could use it for, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it.  The panel squares…

  • Look What’s Cooking

We’ve cooked up some aprons this week and now you can too.  It’s a free pattern from Fat Quarter Shop!    Kim, Robin and I each picked out fabric, a kitchen towel to go with it and we started sewing.  Kimberly at Fat Quarter Shop made a video that guided us step by step. Robin made “Miss Perfect Pearl” using fabric by Tanya Whelan.   Didn’t her apron turn out cute? Kim made “Miss Dinner for Two” using a Sandy Gervais Dinner for Two panel for pockets! I had so much fun making this apron that I actually made two!   I’m calling the first one “Mademoiselle Printemps”.   I used the 3…

  • New Moda Dottie

Moda’s just shipped the most beautiful bundles of Dottie fabric ever. Dots and dots and more dots. The great thing about these new dots is they are part of Moda’s basic fabric line.  That means we’ll be able to get them for a long time.  I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them.   To give you a sampling of the new Dottie fabrics, we’ve added some mini charm packs to our website. They make me feel like making a Dottie quilt.  Just little squares of dots, with white sashing.  How fun would that be? Have a great weekend everyone.  I’ll be back on Monday to show you what’s…

  • Stitching for a Cure

Yesterday was chemo day again and I spent the morning at the hospital with my daughter-in-law.  When I came home there was a package waiting for me from my friend Pauline. Just look at what she made using breast cancer fabric!  Exquisite little bags to hold sewing things, cosmetics or anything else we can dream up.  One for me and one for my daughter-in-law.  Can you believe how cute they are?  These are #7 & #8 that Pauline made using this special cancer fabric.  She’s “stitching for a cure”!   These are gifts to treasure… …made even more special because they were stitched by a friend.  Thank you Pauline! If…

  • Orchids

Last October I purchased two live orchids from Pottery Barn.  I ordered two plants, thinking it would increase my chance of success.  The plants bloomed for almost two months and I was thrilled, but of course eventually the blooms died and I was left with two plants to care for.  The Pottery Barn website gives detailed instructions on how to care for your orchids, and I was surprised to read that the best care is a bit of neglect.  “Water: Water lightly every 20–30 days, if needed. Best if allowed to almost dry out between watering. Check the medium with your finger; if you feel moisture, do not water. ”…

  • Sunshine Lily

It’s time for the 2014 Fat quarter shop mystery quilt and I’ve designed a block for it!  I think you’re going to love this mystery quilt.  The fabric is beautiful and well, who doesn’t love star blocks?   Put the two together and you have the perfect mystery quilt. In case you haven’t signed up yet there’s still time.  You can find it at The Fat Quarter Shop.  The fabric is Snowbird from Laundry Basket Quilts and when I saw this fabric I fell in love.  It’s one of those fabric lines that says “you need me in your stash” LOL. Here’s a few peeks; Love those polka dots! Stars…
