I Led You Astray!
Remember the days before the dog photos? They days when I was giving you hints about my newest block of the month? If you guess the theme of the Christmas block of the month I’m working on, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a nice prize. It might even include some Cath Kidston treats I picked up in Europe!
I led you astray with the pink featherweight post. It wasn’t on purpose! Really! When I read your comments I had to laugh. Someone started talking about a pink Christmas and the next thing I knew you were all going down that path! ( Can’t imagine why you think I’d put pink in one of my quilts!) Well I’m here to give you another clue. There will be some pink in this quilt but it’s smaller than a 5″ x 5” square!
Clues for the week (each week I’ll add another clue):
1. Christmas with some pieced blocks
2. A little bit of snow. White snow NOT pink snow.
3. A tiny bit of pink in the quilt, 5″ x 5″ or smaller. (First I said 2″ x 2″, but it’s really 5″ x 5″)
4. The fabric I’m using is” Le Petie Ecole” from Kaari, the French General! Just look at this fabric and fall in love! It’s perfect for my quilt, but be careful! Don’t get led down the wrong path again!
I’ve combined “La Petite Ecole” with a Bella bundle of neutrals from Moda. These are perfect for backgrounds and the “other” things you might find in the quilt like that little bit of snow!
Just look at how they go with Kaari’s fabric! Bella on the right, and French General on the left.
I’ve printed out two comments for the drawing, but I had to really stretch just to get those. Put your thinking caps on and come up with a Christmas theme! I’ll make it worth your while if you win, but you can’t even enter if you don’t guess the theme!
And finally for a Bitsy and hubby update:
Bitsy is feeling good. She loves her morning walk. First I push her in the stroller, then she gets out and walks several blocks with Chelsea. When we get home she stands in the front yard and won’t come in unless I carry her. That dog would stand outside till winter comes, she’s that stubborn. I raised two boys but I throw my hands up with my old dog. So I carry her in the house and put her down on her bed. She loves it.
Hubby lost his fingernail on his thumb and he still can’t move it very well. He needs to go back to the Dr. just to get it checked. If he doesn’t make an appointment soon, I’m going to give all of you his email so you can “nag” him too. Why is it that when a wife gives advice to a husband it’s called “nagging”?
Back soon!
Anne

I think there has been so many wonderful guesses for your mystery quilt. I especially like the Nutcracker Suite idea as it is such a tradional one. I think the romantic theme might also have a play in it..You always come up with such wonderful designs for us. Please tell your DH he really needs to pay attention to that little problem or it will not continue to be a little one! Shame on that meaner than I thought cat..Would give anything to see your little furkid in a pink stroller. What a cute thought. Again thank you for the pet gallery of photos. Loved each and everyone of them as they brought both smiles and tears..
Ina
My guess for the contest: ‘Christmas in Paris’.
Ina
lol!! She WALKS!! She can W*A*L*K!! Ooops, she can walk just close enough to the house where she becomes ‘lame’ again. I want to meet Bitsy some day. She is too much!!
Poor hubby, tell him to at least call the ‘advice nurse’ to find out what he should be doing to help the thumb heal and to promote the nail growing back.
I hate that word ‘nagging’. If YOU were the one with the thumb nail missing, he would insist that YOU go in and see the doctor. It’s the double standard.
Okay, threaten to give out his cell number! That’ll scare him. Tell him that 700 people submitted photos so there are potentially 700 people that will call him!!
Debra Newhall
I have really enjoyed the pet photos! My 17 year old son loved them as well- not very often we like the same thing unless it’s chocolate. The theme would be “Favorite Things” and feature animals. Hope everyone at your house continues to heal!
lisa
I am stuborn too, I still think it is a Christmas Village, but I am begining to think I need another clue to guide me onto a new path. I think I’m wrong now a days but I can’t guess what else it could be. I love the fabrics though!
Theresa
“No Place Like Home at Christmas”, for your Christmas BOM quilt. Fabrics are beautiful. I look forward to seeing your quilt.
Renee
I am guessing it’s Christmas in Paris featuring cute little doggies. Oh I hope I’m right!
Barb Colvin
My theme guess is critters having Christmas. Cardinals, bunnies, cats, dogs, etc dressed up for Christmas and maybe putting up decorations.
Robin Crittenden
Anne,
I think your BOM is going to be something along the lines of A Christmas Romance
Sharon S
My first thought was “Christmas in Paris”. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
marcella
I’m hoping it’s more snowmen :-) They are so cute!
Marilyn
My guess for you quilt name is “An American Storybook Christmas.” The lettered fabric makes me think books are involved. Hmmm…block one = “The Night before Christmas”, block two = ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’, block three = ‘Frosty the Snowman’, etc….Frosty uses the snow in your quilt :-)
Cheryl
I am so excited about your new BOM. From your fabric selection I have a feeling your theme may be related to Vintage Christmas ornaments or vintage childrens’ toys.
Thanks for posting such FUN posts.

A parisian street at Christmastime?
Nancy C. in Utah
Hmmmm…..I’m flumuxed (spelled wrong, LOL) It all looks like and old fashioned Christmas to me. I love the colors, could it possibly be something to do with the North Pole…Santa’s Workshop maybe? Or, all the letters, alphabets…an old one room school house (I’m reaching here, LOL) Am I getting warm? LOL…I’ll be checking back in a couple of weeks. See you then. Hugs
Rosalie
Is it a Gingerbread Christmas? Or something Christmas cooking related. I loooove gingerbread, so that would be totally awesome!
mimi'sdarlins
Anne, I’m so glad Bitsy is at least walking again…sometimes…she knows she’s got a good thing here and is apparently loving it :-)
Here’s my gentle nag for your hubby…it’s time to go back in for a recheck. If he doesn’t make the appt, perhaps you should.
Now, about these clues…I’m still stumped, but here are my new guesses:
– White Christmas…only because you keep mentioning snow
– French Christmas. Parisian Christmas or Christmas around the world
– Peace on Earth
– Something about school or alphabet (I know that’s not a theme, but I want to be in the drawing!)
Lynn S
I think it will be an outdoor Christmas wonderland with wonderful animals around a beautifully decorated tree–snow scene too.
Belinda
Twas the night before Christmas…that would be my current guess.
Patricia Droste
I’m thinking the alphabet is the theme.
Marj
Love the fabric that you are using for the quilt. I was thinking of a reindeer Christmas theme. The letters could be for Santa’s list
Jocelyn
Wow so many great guesses. I am going to guess some kind of Log Cabin Christmas. With a pink hearth :-)
Dorian
I can’t make up my mind. My first thought was a Christmas I Spy. But then I kept thinking about woodland creatures too. So maybe a Woodlands creatures Christmas, complete with presents and a tree.
DebrafromMD
I’m going to guess a Santa Clause theme. Even Santa needs a smidgeon of pink.
Anne Marieke
Gorgeous fabrics and I smiled when I read the bit about you raising two boys and Bitsy has you stumped ;o)
You really are a good story teller, Anne!
How about Vintage Christmas for your new BOM?
Yvonne
Hmmm, a bit of pink…
and that fab fabric…
I’m thinking along the lines of ’12 (something) of Christmas’ – just not sure what the something is going to be tho’. I had thought cats/kittens but now not sure that there’ll be enough pink…
Stephanie
I’m going to guess a “12 days of Christmas” theme or perhaps a Christmas alphabet. Gorgeous fabrics combined with your wonderful style…this will be one amazing quilt for sure.
Julia
Hello Anne,
reading the comments the ideas in my head started spinning…they all would make great Bunny Hill Christmas quilts ;o).
Since I spotted French General’s new line in the ‘coming soon’ section of a certain store I fell in love with that fabric…I’m so happy you’ll use it in your Christmas quilt…and that polka dot print is just yummy…can’t wait to see what you’ve done with it.
I am still quite in the dark…but maybe it’s a “counting down to christmas” theme…or, given the alphabets of ‘la petite école’ it’s probably ‘C is for…’ (something of Bunny Hill cuteness for every letter in ‘christmas’…
I’m glad to hear that Bitsy is well…could just kiss that clever dog!
My fingers are crossed for your husband ~ he really should see the doctor again!
Janelle
How about a mini Christmas quilt?
Laura
I am thinking maybe “A Visit From Saint Nick”? Or as it is more commonly known, “The Night Before Christmas”. That little bit of pink would be perfect for a mouses nose!
Marcia
I’m tempted to guess christmas critters but I’m having a hard time picturing that with the colors. The colors, glorious as they are, feel vintage to me. Something still tells me there are critters of some sort involved.
Ah our critters. I do more for my puppies than I ever would for my kids.
Diane
That fabric is stunning — whatever the theme is, I’ll be making that quilt! My guess is old fashioned Christmas ornaments.
Vicky
Well, I guess the flying pink angel pigs are out!
In commemoration of your recent trip, I’ll combine the fabric names for a Bella Joyeux Noel theme! Christmas around the world, Bunnyhill style…. but those pink pigs woulda been cute, too! :)
Cindy D.
Christmas alphabet. S is for snow!
Sharon Stroud
I’m guessing the Twelve Days of Christmas. Perhaps the pink square will be used as an applique for faces? Whatever the theme, it will be fabulous!
Nancy Brooks
Anne…I think your new quilt pattern will feature sweet baby lambs with little pink noses…Can’t wait to see it!!!
SheilaC
I am thinking Christmas sweets…. and the little bit of pink can be the icing on a cookie!
SheilaC
Vivian
I’m thinking Santa’s village.
annette
I noticed the letters and wondered if its a Christmas ABC’s. Hmmm…I will keep thinking. This is a challenging one!
Deb
Hi Anne, I am thinking of something like “All Come Home for Christmas” and maybe toasting marshmallows (pink) over a fire as one of the blocks and all the different things families do at Christmas when they get together. Just a thought anyway.
hugs Deb
annie
You are just the cutest and the sweetest. How come I feel like you are an old friend, even though just a cyber one. Love to Bitsy and the stubborn husband. Don’t all husbands come in that same mold (G)!!!!

Christmas in Paris BOM – the theme is Christmas. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com

Hi Anne,
How about a Nutcracker Christmas theme quilt ?
SewLindaAnn
Seeing those letters on the fabric and the color of the line is nagging at me to be an old fashioned or old timey children’s book Christmas theme or vintage toys and toy box – something in that theme. I think was going for old fashioned village because I kept thinking about your town quilt.
Stefanie
Hi Anne!
I am swooning over that fabric!
Bitsy sure does have some spunk in her. Tell hubby that “nag” is what we do because we love them (or don’t have anything better to do)!
XOXO,
Stefanie
Kari
LOL! I’m a nag too. Glad Bitsy is feeling better.
What would use a little bit of pink? Noses and tongues of our furry friends? Christmas kittens?
Debbie St. Germain
I am totally lost, lol.
All I can think of is a French Country Christmas?
Men never listen and if my husband even dares to call me a nag, I will smack him upside the head;) LOL
Debbie
Leslie Legros
how about Christmas in Provence? or Paris? or London? or …, a well known location you would have seen in your trip to Europe?
hey, what about snow on that great little pink motor scooter?
take care, Leslie
SewLindaAnn
Looking at those fabrics makes me think of an old village type Christmas scene.
Mary on Lake Pulaski
Is it going to be “A Christmas Carol” theme?
