• And The House Became a Home

Sometimes I’m inspired by unexpected things.  I’ve been watching house renovation shows like “Love It Or List It” and “The Property Brothers” on HGTV.  They got me thinking about what makes a house a home, nesting, and how much love we all put into our homes. Soon I was sketching out a quilt and “The House Became a Home” was designed.   It’s a 36″ x 40″ wall quilt you can personalize to make it your own.   The fabric is the beautiful French General “La Fete de Noel” line from Moda Fabrics.  It ships to quilt shops in July and I’ve included the fabric guide below: House Became a…

  • Introducing Simple Pleasures

When life gets crazy I turn to applique.   Give me fabric, thread, and a needle and I can relax.   My newest block of the month, “Simple Pleasures” is 12 months of handwork that’s portable and easy to stitch.  Once you’ve prepared a block, it’s perfect to take to along to stitch anywhere you may go.  It will give you something to look forward to while you’re waiting in the doctor’s office or the school parking lot to pick up kids. I used this beautiful new fabric from Moda & Collections for a Cause, by Howard Marcus Dunn.  The fabric line is called “Community”.  Moda donates the proceeds from…

  • Living Quilt Market Vicariously

It’s quilt market weekend and I’m living it vicariously through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  You can too, if you put in the hashtags, #quiltmarket or #showmethemoda in one of your apps.  Here’s a picture I found on Twitter just a bit ago.  It’s 2 of my friends, Kimberly at Fat Quarter Shop and Doug Leko from Antler Designs.  Love these two so much!  If I were there, they’d be getting a big hug.  Or, how about this one I found on Facebook saying Moda won 1st place for multiple booths?  1st place, isn’t that great?  See that pretty lady at the bottom of the picture?  That’s Holly, and she’s usually…

  • I Believe

I’ve believed in Santa, Snowmen and fairy tales since my earliest memories.  Where would the world be without Frosty the Snowman or stories of Santa at the North Pole?  Children believe, and are more than willing to share that innocence with us.  It’s a wonderful, whimsical feeling that makes us smile and feel young again. I hope you’ll feel a bit of that magic when you look at “I Believe in Snowmen”! You’ll find snowmen everywhere you look, and they’re ready to help you celebrate Christmas.  All it takes is a little monthly stitching and a touch of applique and you’ll have this quilt ready to share by December! The…
