• On My Reading List

I’ve had a really good weekend!    I finally got to watch the first few shows of Project Runway, Season 12.  I normally watch “drama” shows such as  “Suits”, “Covert Affairs”, “The Good Wife”, “The Mentalist”,” Elementary” etc. but I’m putting Project Runway right at the top with the rest of them!  Don’t know how I got into watching this show, but once I did I was hooked.  I record almost all of the shows I like, so I can watch them on weekends while I stitch or sew.  Are you hooked like me? At night I like to read a good book, and on my reading list now is…

  • Capture those pet moments

Pets are a source of continuous smiles for most of us, but taking photos of them is something we don’t do often enough.  There are endless photo moments I don’t want to miss, so I’ve begun carrying my iPhone in my pocket so I can snap a picture anytime.  For example… …Camouflage… Pumpkin knows the secrets of camouflage. Lay really still and curl up in a big wood bowl, no one will notice you.  Well, almost no one.  I don’t recommend this as a decorating idea, but Pumpkin sure thought it was great. …and Chelsea’s been playing around with my iPhone taking self portraits.  I hope she doesn’t start doing Instagram!…

  • Weekend Summer Fun, Sewing of Course!

I spent last weekend sewing with friends, and oh my gosh we had fun.  I think everyone should plan a retreat at home.  Just think, send your husband and kids away for the weekend (mine husband happily went camping) and invite some friends over for sewing, all weekend long.  Use whatever space you have even if it’s the kitchen table.  Sewing together is what makes it fun! I got to sew on a Juki 2010 Q and fell in love. It was easy to stitch a perfect 1/4″ seam allowance, even while sewing fast.  The Juki only does straight stitching, but it does it so well, it’s easy to forget…

  • Alphabet Art

If you take pictures with your iPhone you may want to try the AfterLight app.  It’s really fun!  There’s a lot you can do with it, including what I call alphabet art.  I made the following photos in just a few minutes using this app. L is for Lily M is for Michaela A is for Alyssa  C is for Chelsea Think of the words you can make.  Pinch or expand your photo with your fingers until you get it positioned where you like it.   Just use Afterlight and your iPhone! Are you doing anything fun over the 4th?  We’re having a horrible heat wave in our area, and…

  • Wall Art

Are you looking for a cute idea for decorating your child’s room?  My daughter-in-law, Elke, created this “wall art” in Lily’s room using construction paper.  It’s so dang cute! “Wall Art” from a very creative mom!  Hope it inspires you. Anne
