• Please pass the butter…

I’m in love with this vegetable…just look at it!  Isn’t it beautiful? To think that something high in potassium, calcium and iron can also be this beautiful! My husband learned a great trick for cooking these pretties on his fishing trip.  The Canadian chef they met cuts them in half before cooking. It cuts the cooking time to about 20 minutes and the end result is a beautiful vegetable ready for the table… Yummm, please pass the butter (or do you prefer mayonnaise?) Another little trick the chef used was to pan fry the artichokes (cut side down) in a bit of olive oil before serving. My husband loves them…

  • Oh that beautiful bird!

I see an eagle every so often but never in mass.   My husband and son saw eagles every day on their fishing trip to Englefield Bay, British Columbia. I hope you enjoy these photos taken by our son. The eagles sit in the trees and wait for the fishing boats to return.  When the fish are cleaned the show begins… This has to be nature at it’s best.  I would have paid to see this show!  Oh that’s right, I did! What we do for pictures like this and a freezer full of salmon… Hugs,   Anne

  • Happy 4th!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone!  Henrietta’s here a day early to help us celebrate.  I hope you have a bit of time this weekend to get started on block seven.  Two more blocks to go and then we’ll be onto the borders!  We’re so close to finishing!   Be sure to click on the “Sewing with Kids” tab at the top if you have a little free time this weekend to spend with your child.  The first project is up along with some suggestions on how to teach  kids to use the sewing machine.  If you have a child or a grandchild who wants to sew this is going to…

  • Oh my!

It’s been one of those weeks… My trip to Austin was delayed for 7 hours.  The plane had mechanical trouble and I sat in the airport all day (not complaining because they discovered it while on the ground).  If you didn’t get a call from me to chit chat it’s  because I didn’t have your number!  If you did get a call I’m sorry!  I can talk a lot when I’m killing time. My embroidery was packed in my suitcase, not my carry on bag.  Free time and nothing to sew!  Learned my lesson on that one I hope. Retreat was wonderful and I finished embroidering my letter  “S”!  …
