• It’s finally a Quilt!

Snowmen are coming to town this holiday season!   It’s Snowbound time at Bunny Hill!  There’s nothing like finishing a quilt and being able to finally use it!  If you’ve joined me in making Snowbound, I hope you’ll enjoy yours as much as I’m enjoying mine! I’ve gathered up a few of my favorite snowmen and Snowbound is hanging in my dining room for the holidays.  Come on in! They key to a good display is to vary the height. You can easily create height with a few empty boxes, some scraps of your favorite quilting fabric, ribbon and pins.  You can reuse the fabric after Christmas so don’t worry about…

  • Fillers

What are  fillers?  They’re photos you use when you don’t have time to blog!  Photos that make you think I’m still here when in actuality I’m  in the background working like a maniac to get ready for market.  Yep, that’s me the market maniac, along with many other designers I’m sure. You may get more of these fillers this week. Can’t promise they’ll all be pink.  Maybe I’ll try another color.  Oh who am I kidding I don’t have any other colors! I have  a new fabric line due for spring, quilts to get ready for this market, and patterns to write.   It’s always like this just before market.   But…

  • A Few Things Going to Market

Did you think I’d be on that airplane right now?  Nope not until tomorrow at the early hour of 6:30 Pacific Time. Minneapolis here we come! Just have to share a few new things before I leave! My new fabric line comes with the most wonderful pre-quilted SOFT fabric!  I’ve used it for so many things! My friend Anne made this little pink jacket for our booth.  It’s just the sweetest! It’s a pattern from Oliver & S.  I parted with a few vintage glass buttons for the finishing touch.  It’s so adorable and you can see it in our booth, along with the little plaid skirt that goes with…

  • Fresh Eggs?

So here’s some egg  trivia for you!  How do you tell if the eggs in your refrigerator are fresh? Take the simple water test! 1.  Put the egg in a bowl with room temperature water.  Fill with enough water to cover the egg. 2.  If the egg sinks and rests horizontally, it’s very fresh.  If the larger end of the egg starts to rise, your egg is about one to two weeks old.  Still ok to eat. 3.  If the egg floats, throw it out!  It’s a “bad egg” so to speak. These are Farm Fresh eggs that I know are about two weeks old.  I was wondering if they were ok…

  • The Weigh-In

The weigh-in is tomorrow.  No, not for me, for her… Chelsea has a weigh-in at the vet tomorrow, and we start preparing for it a week in advance. It’s kind of like Weight Watchers. You know the weigh-in is coming,  so you cut back for a few days.  I hope the bow doesn’t add ounces to the scale.  She’s wearing it, because who can resist a plump Chihuahua in a bow?  Helps hide the rolls around the collar.  I can tell she hasn’t lost any weight. She feels heavy when I pick her up, and well, she looks heavy too.  I’m going to make my husband take her for the weigh-in. …

  • Machine Applique

I finished the scallop border on Rabbits Prefer Redwork using invisible machine applique. That’s right, invisible machine applique, but with DMC Machine Embroidery thread or Aurifil 50wt. thread. I love to stitch by hand, but there’s a time and a place for everything. Machine applique can be the perfect solution when you need to get it done fast. The four border scallops took me one evening to applique and you can hardly see any difference. I’ll let you in on some of my secrets! You’ll need a few things to get started: 1. Thread to match the color of your applique. Use a 50 wt.  thread on the top, and…
