• January, a fresh new month

I love the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.  No one really expects me to be working so it gives me time to clean and reorganize.   I use this week to take down Christmas decorations and clean my studio while I watch all the shows I’ve recorded over the past month.  I think it might be the best week of the entire year! One of the first things I did last week, was to find a place for the beautiful white shelf my friend Robin gave me.  It fits perfectly on top of the pottery barn hutch on my desk, and once I cleared the clutter off the hutch the rest was…

  • What kind of quilter are you?

Are you a “clutter” quilter or a “neatness” quilter?  Just look around your sewing area and you’ll know.  Are you surrounded with stacks of fabric and tables filled with works in progress, or do you have a place for everything and only one project out at a time? I’m a neatness quilter and I can only function for a short time in a messy space.  When we’re working on new patterns my studio always becomes a disaster.  I’m forced to become the clutter quilter, and I’m not fit to live with.  I start thinking about throwing things out, rearranging furniture, giving things away and other drastic measures. Last week my…

  • Cubby Shelf Storage

I’ve spent the weekend cleaning in the studio.  When I’m busy working on new things organization gets away from me and after market it’s time to gather everything up once again and find a place for it.   Cubby shelves are perfect for storage in a sewing room.  They don’t use valuable floor space and they put things in site that you might use daily. I purchased this shelf at Pottery Barn and I decided to fill it with my ribbon spools.  I love it when I can see what I have in one place.  For me (and probably quite a few of you) if it’s out of sight it’s out…

  • Pillow Talk

I just found out that Lissa, our great leader has a blog post with a giveaway!    Go there now and sign up for her giveaway.  She doesn’t say what it is, but she is MODA!!!!  Hmmm, maybe I’ll sign up! I’ve been designing with my new fabric line and I don’t have any fabric yet!  I’m still waiting for fabric to arrive so in order to get a head start I’m working digitally.  I use a software program called Adobe Illustrator and I can actually scan my drawings, trace them directly on my “oh so fancy Wacom monitor”, and insert the fabrics into the drawings.  It gives me an idea…

  • More fluff and stuff

I’ll confess, I fell for it.  I believed Sandy Gervais could paint with her toes.  I spent about 3 minutes trying to imagine it and by that time I was at the end of her post.  If you are as gullible as me we could go together and buy the real estate she’s selling!  It’s not so far fetched because my DH can pick up pencils and things with his toes.  I’m not really proud of him for this trait but I didn’t find out about it until after we were married! Today is Laurie & Jessi Jung day on Pillow Talk!   You’re in for a treat because everything…

  • If there’s a pink one I’ll find it!

Look what I found on Shabby Fabrics blog!  Jennifer has the same pink sewing machine I do! I know Jennifer loves pink.  I just didn’t know she was as crazy about it as I am!  Humm, wonder if she has a pink coffee maker?  The best thing is Jennifer is having a give away too!  Leave a comment and you could win! You know about my pink fetish and now you know about Jennifer’s too.  Here’s something you might not know about!  The shank from the Pfaff sewing machines will also fit most featherweight machines. So why would you want a Pfaff shank on your featherweight?  Because then you can use most of the Pfaff…
