• I wish this were mine

My friend Nancy (she does most of the piecing for Bunny Hill) brought over her Dear Jane quilt this week to share with us.  She’s an excellent quilter so we knew we were in for a treat. It took her a little over 4 years to complete all the blocks and assemble the quilt.  She sent the quilt to Ohio to be hand quilted by an Amish quilter, and she just got it back last weekend.  The quilt has over 200 blocks and each block is quilted with a different pattern.  I could look at this quilt for days and never see enough.  These photos can’t begin to capture its…

  • Snowmen are made for wool

You know, don’t you, that I’ve got this thing for wool?   I don’t want you to think I’m giving up on fabric, because applique is my passion and I’ve got new patterns coming very soon.  It’s just fun to mix fabric and wool together sometimes, especially when those Moda designers keep coming up with such cute fabric. My booth happened to be right across from Lisa at Primitive Gatherings last market, so not only was I looking at wool all day, I was looking at her dang cute Snowman Gathering fabric!  Who could resist that combination? I took a jelly roll, charm pack and some of that fabulous yardage…

Welcome to week three of the 2013 Fat Quarter Shop, Designer Mystery Blog Tour.  This week features the flower row!   I love mysteries of any kind and when the Fat Quarter Shop asked me to design a block for their mystery quilt, I said count me in!   I’m keeping company this week with Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister and Karla, Susan and Lisa, the Sweetwater girls!   We’ve all designed flower blocks using Fig Tree’s wonderful new line “Avalon”.   Featuring shades of green, aqua,  red, yellow and a beautiful navy Joanna added; Avalon is perfect for this quilt. I think you’ll love this quilt so be sure…

  • Snowmen Warm Your Heart

I can never get enough snowmen.  There’s just something about the little guys that makes me happy! When I was at Fall market last October I saw Lisa’s Snowman Gatherings fabric and I had to have it. Now, a few months later, we’ve turned it into a new version of Postcard Cuties for Winter! We made the snowmen from wool and used a jelly roll, charm pack and a bit of yardage for the remainder of the quilt.   I’m busy updating the pattern and the new version should be ready in a few weeks.  The fabric doesn’t ship until April so you’ll have to wait a bit.  We hope…
