• Playing with color

Playing around with color.  Isn’t that what we love about quilting?  I just finished teaching my Merry, Merry Snowmen class at Thimble Creek, our local quilt shop.  I had the best group of ladies ever.  They may not realize it but watching them inspired me! Just look at these beauties that came out of my class! I love this combination of red, aqua, grey and a touch of beige!   From William Morris prints to Bunny Hill checks, this quilt has it all!  See the aqua truck?  My husband owned one just like it years ago in the same beautiful shade of Aqua.   I don’t dare show him this picture.…

  • Kansas City Quilt Market

I’m home and it feels so good.  Kansas City was a wonderful host but there’s no place like home.   We spent 6 days in the Kansas City Convention Center in downtown Kansas City and I feel like I only know a teeny bit!  It’s huge and goes on for several blocks. The downtown area is surrounded by tall buildings with many styles of architecture. Of course the old buildings are always my favorite. Sample Spree at any quilt market is a shopping frenzy.  People line up hours in advance to get in.  This was only the start of the line and it went on forever!  Quilter’s can shop like no…

  • What’s cooking at Bunny Hill?

Moda’s introducing something new with my Windsor Lane fabric line…Junior Jelly Rolls!  They are just the cutest, little, petite, baby Jelly Rolls ever.  They’re half the size of a regular Jelly Roll and half the price too!  I took a minute from sewing today to take a picture of “Junior” for you.  There I was in the front yard with my little pink cake stand, a pink Junior Jelly Roll, bench, camera and tripod, oblivious to the fact that my image was reflecting in the cake stand in every photo.  Photographer extraordinaire, that’s me.   It’s just been one of those days.  LOL! What else is cooking at Bunny Hill? …

  • Scrappy Plates

If you’ve followed along you should have your Scrappy Plate Quilt almost finished!   Can you believe how easy it was?  I’ve wanted to make a Dresden quilt forever and I’ve put it off because it looked like so much work.  Once I tried the Dresden ruler I knew I was hooked.  The ruler really makes it easy!   I hope you’ve all had a wonderful time making your own quilt.  Will you add a scallop or keep the border plain?  Decisions, decisions!  You’ll find the pattern for the scallop by clicking here Scrappy Plates Part Four! To all of my readers who suggested books to read in my last post,…

  • Wool & Dresdens

If you’re attending the Paducah Quilt Show next month be sure and search for Karolyn Reker’s version of YoYoville.     She “fussy cut” little critters for the windows and doors of the houses on the border!  Look how cute these are!  I haven’t seen all the critters yet so I’m counting on you to take photos for me if you’re going to the show.  Think of the fun Karolyn had searching for all the critter fabrics!   Our “Bunny Hill” Kim amazed us yesterday with more of her Dresden blocks.  She used wool for the centers and machine appliqued the entire block.  She widened the stitch width a little when she…

  • Scappy Plates Update

It’s that crazy time before market when my blog posts begin to dwindle.  I apologize in advance and I’ll try to do better,  but I do have a good excuse.   I’m working on new designs!  Maybe not as you envision because I won’t have any fabric until April.  No rotary cutters, thread or sewing machines are involved now.   All I have are fabric scans that I’m using to fill  my drawings and hopefully make a computerized version of the quilts I picture in my head.   It’s a strange way of working and I prefer the real fabric but I know I’m not alone.  Lots of other designers have…
