• Traveling with Applique

I was asked by Moda to share any tips I had on traveling with applique.  This really got me thinking, and I realized I hadn’t shared with you the applique travel case a friend made for me!  I use this case so much it’s become a part of me.  It goes to the Dr’s office, the dentist, car rides and quilt shops with me.  It’s well traveled and very familiar with airplanes.  The pattern was designed by Pearl at P3 Designs, and I love it so much I’ve added the pattern to my web site.  Now you can make one of these travel cases too! You can’t imagine all the things this little case can hold! And…

  • Snow Happy Hearts for March

It’s already the month of March, can you believe it?  Are you ready for #3 of Snow Happy Hearts? It’s a snowman with a PINK lamb for a friend!  I love pink lambs so of course I include one when I can.  March seems like the perfect pink lamb month. Snow Happy Hearts March You’ll find the last of the Snow Happy Hearts fat quarter bundles on our website along 2 other Mistletoe Lane bundles we’ve just added. Here’s a new 1/2 yd. bundle of neutral backgrounds from Mistletoe Lane. Or, how about a little fat quarter bundle of ice skates? It’s a great day when you can get ice skates and pink lambs!…

  • Oh those fat quarter bundles

If I owned a factory the first thing I would buy is a machine that cuts fat quarters.  Then I’d buy a machine that folds, one that presses and one that collates.  Since there’s no chance of a factory coming my way, I’m in a studio with rulers, rotary cutters, irons and a few helpers.  Over a two-week period we will have cut 1,440 fat quarters. When we decided to offer a bundle of Mistletoe Lane for the Snow Happy Hearts, I never imagined so many of you would want one.  We’ve got such a small website compared to the big guys and normally we can see an end to the fat quarter…

  • Snow Happy Hearts for February

Are you ready for another heart pattern?  If you haven’t seen it yet, February’s heart is sweet as can be, and it’s just in time for Valentine’s Day!  We’ve used a bit of brown wool felt for the bird and his beak is a tiny satin stitch.  If you prefer you can make the bird from fabric.  Just applique with tiny stitches. Speaking of tiny stitches, there isn’t enough time in the day, or strength in my hands, to stitch all the samples I need.  I’m lucky to have some really good help.  I think some people are just born to stitch, and one of them lives right across the street from me.  Kim…

  • Inspirations

There are so many things that inspire and excite me.  All you have to do is look around, and you’ll find them too.  I get the most excited when one of you uses something I’ve designed, and takes it to the next level.  Maybe you use a different fabric, add a different touch, or you change it in a way that adds your own creativity.  It’s exciting! Lea Kagel took my Cape Cod Baby pattern and gave it a new look using blue and green fabrics.  She made it for a new mother-to-be and I think she may have already given it to her.  She was drawn to the pattern because…
