• Moda Blog Hop!

Welcome to day one of the Moda BLOG hop! Moda assigned me the letter B and soon B’s were all I could think about.  I had the biggest urge to pick up Barbara Brackman’s book and look for blocks beginning with B, like Basket, Broken Dishes, Birds in the Air, Bear Paw, Bethlehem Star, and Bird of Paradise.  It’s enough to drive me BATTY. So instead I got out of bed and biked into Berkeley, wearing baggy burlap bell bottoms, to pick up backing, binding, borders, batting and beige buttons for a baby quilt.  On the way home I bumped into Barbara, Barry, and Billy who were bragging about Bob’s…

  • Blog Hop

Welcome back to the Moda blog hop everyone!   It’s time to put together some of those wonderful quilt blocks you’ve been collecting and make a quilt!   You’ll find the directions on the Moda blog.  Of course it wouldn’t be a blog hop without giveaways, so be sure and check all the blogs to see if you’ve won a prize! Since my newest fabric line Celebration has fabrics for both boys and girls, I’m giving away a bundle of each!   The winner of the girl’s bundle is Tamie, who said:  ” I have a two week old granddaughter who would love to have a quilt from Celebration for Girls!”…

  • Welcome to our new look

I’ve done it!  I spent the weekend updating my blog.  I know it will take a while to figure out where everything is.  It’s kind of like moving into a new house;  I’ve got the same old furniture, it’s just arranged differently.  Be sure and visit the menu bar at the top because you’ll find lots of changes that I hope you like! I’m excited that the comment form is finally at the bottom of the blog post!   Silly, I know, but now you don’t have to search for it when you feel like leaving a comment.  And, if you want to email me a question, or tell me something…

  • Sample Sale

Thank you to each of you who commented on my last blog post.  I don’t think I could have made it through the weekend without such loving words coming my way.  I read every comment, every email and some of them twice.  It was a rough weekend for all of us here, and knowing that so many of you cared really helped.  You are not just blog readers, but people who I love having in my life.  Thank you all so very much! Sample Sale Every once in a while I go through the samples in our closet to make space for new things to come.  Right now the closet…

  • We have a Winner!

I stopped by Random.org to let them pick a winner for the lovely “S is for Stitch” book.  They do things in such “randomness”,  they make it easy to pick someone. I just put in the numbers, hit enter, and ta da a winner is declared! Ellen M #194 who happened to comment: “Such charming designs.  I’m getting back into embroidery after a very long time, so this would be a great inspiration.  Many thanks for the chance!”   Congratulations Ellen, I hope your stitching away and loving it very soon!  And thank you Kristyne for writing such a wonderful book!  Hats off to you! If you received my newsletter…

  • Prairie Cloth & “S is for Stitch”

I’ve added a new fabric to the website called Prairie Cloth. If you haven’t tried stitching, cross stitching, or wool applique on Prairie Cloth, you’re in for a treat!   It’s  a wonderful, slightly coarse cloth, that looks like linen and runs about half the price.  It’s 100% cotton and comes in many different colors.  Can you see the texture of it in the photos below? I think you’ll like working with Prairie Cloth, but remember it ravels a bit.  If you have a serger, just serge the edges before you start your project.   You’ll find 6 colors of Prairie Cloth along with the Jumbo Ric Rac for my new…
