Rain, rain go away
It’s been pouring rain and the wind is howling at the door. It’s a less than subtle reminder that winter comes to all of us, ready or not. Roses drenched in rain, are still blooming in our yard, just waiting to dance in the wind with our Christmas lights. Who knew December would be here so quickly and with such force? We should have planned ahead, I told my husband, because it’s supposed to rain all weekend and we haven’t put up the lights yet. I caught him smiling as he watched the rain through the window. Ha! Just let him think he’s getting out of putting up…

Thanksgiving
The day is damp with a bit of drizzle. Just enough to make us bundle up. The rain would be welcome this time of year and our umbrellas are waiting, but secretly I’m hoping it skips us today. Rain tomorrow would be just fine. I hope your Thanksgiving day brings you sunshine. Soon our dining room will be filled with the sound of chatter as platters of food are shared once again this Thanksgiving day. I was privileged to host some guests from Japan several years ago. They were astounded that we had this room in our house that we only used once or twice a year. It…

Christmas at Holly Hill
Holly Hill Quilt Shoppe opened up its classroom this weekend for the annual Homespun and Holly event. Fresh trees filled the room and the scent and spirit of Christmas was everywhere. Have you ever seen a quilt shop classroom decked out like this? It was amazing. Table centerpieces were perfect little boxwood trees carefully planted in a beautiful wood crates. A stocking filled with treats awaited each customer. Eye candy was everywhere. Visit the Holly Hill Blog to capture the spirit of this special event. Homespun and Holly happens once a year and it’s worth a trip to attend. A great start to the holiday season!

On my iPad
I finished all of the JD Robb “In Death” series books. Thanks to all of you, because I never would have known about this series if you hadn’t recommend it. I read every single one, including her newest! As far as I’m concerned J.D. Robb can’t write them fast enough. Once you start with these books you can’t stop and now that I’ve finished them I’m going through withdrawal. Currently on my iPad is a series of Louise Penny books, the chief inspector Gamache novels. I started with “A Fatal Grace” (should have started with “Still Life” but didn’t know it was the first in the series) and…

Holly Hill
This week has just flown by. Just as I put the newsletter out last Monday, Kim (she’s the one who personally takes care of all of you) came down with the stomach flu. We were doing fine until about 1PM and then this awful bug hit…it took her down for the week. Robin and I are keeping our fingers crossed that we’ve killed this bug with Lysol. I’ve sprayed everything I can think of and so far so good. I hope none of you have had this bug. I got my flu shot but I’m not sure this is what they consider the actual flu. When Kim comes back tomorrow…
