Quilt Market Week
If Quilt Market could have its own week, this is it! When I think of quilters from all over the US and international countries, arriving in Portland this week, it’s mind-boggling. Oh how I wish I could take each and every one of you to quilt market. The excitement is building throughout the week with classes and sample spree. Friday is opening day! If you can’t come to market, follow along on Jolly Jabber ( the Fat quarter Shop blog) or, on the Fat quarter Shop’s Facebook page. You’ll get market updates throughout each day and get all the news as it happens. Molly “Molly” horse, my newest petite pattern,…

Apparently a lot of you liked the pink bowls! They are really pretty, I agree, and I’m excited to be giving them away. Some of you sent me emails because you couldn’t find where to leave a comment, but don’t worry, I assigned each of you a number and added you to the total. Winner #1 1st winner from the Random Number Generator, is Diane, #165 who said: May 7, 2013 at 7:53 pm “Rose is my name and one of my favorite flowers! And PINK is my favorite color! Pick me! Pick me!” Diane, there must be something lucky about the last name Rose! Hope your garden is full…

Michelle lives in Portland
Project Runway Do you watch Project Runway? I tape all the shows just so I don’t miss one. If you were cheering for Michelle when she won Project Runway, you are not alone, and guess what? She lives in Portland, right where quilt market is going to be (ok, maybe not right where quilt market is, but I’m sure she’s close by). I would love, love, love to meet her! She should be an inspiration to all of us because she picked herself up when she was down and came out on top. Holly Hill Also very near Portland is a fabulous quilt shop called Holly Hill. It’s a must…

Bring in the new
It gets so crazy around here right before market. You’d think I’d be used to it, but it never ceases to amaze me. It’s market frenzy time and it takes every minute I have to get ready. My husband cooks, feeds the pets, shops and takes care of the house, just so I can design quilts and write patterns. Bless his heart, it’s a routine we automatically fall into. I couldn’t do it without him. I’ve been sewing with my newest fabric line from Moda called Celebration. I’ve designed Celebration with 2 colorways; one for boys and one for girls. Celebration for boys… …with elephants in red, blue…

Working on “new”
I’m having so much fun working on my newest block of the month. I’m mixing the new “Vin du Jour” from Three Sisters with some French General Favorites. They are getting along wonderfully! I can’t wait to show you my quilt! Just a few more weeks and it will be off to the quilter. I’ll take some sneak peek photos before it leaves. Yesterday we cleaned our storage room and pulled out fabrics we totally forgot we had. You’ll find them in the sale section on my website at 50% off. These are fabrics left from quilts and kits. You may find something you still need to make one of…
