Blockheads

BH4, Blocks 9, 10 & 11

It’s a three-block day at Bunny Hill! I’m catching up and sharing my last three Block Heads blocks in one post, and I might have a little surprise for you at the end of this post.

Moda Block Heads 4 is the first Block Heads sew along I’ve done, and it’s been a sweet one for me. I love stitching up all these different blocks! It’s become my Saturday afternoon “me” time. I hope those of you making this quilt are enjoying it as much as I am.

With each block photo, I’m trying to include something special. It might be a flower from my garden or a trinket in my studio. Sometimes you may see a special ribbon or a few vintage buttons I’ve collected. Some of you asked about the little wool pin-cushion in the Cross My Heart photo. This was a gift from my Houston friend Julie, so I don’t have a pattern. However, it’s a favorite of mine, and I’d love to have a whole shelf of vintage spool pin-cushions! I’ll see if I can get more information for you from Julie.

#9, Cross My Mind

“Cross my mind” is such a heartfelt name for a great block! BH4 Block 9 is brought to us by one of my favorite designers, Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic.

#10, Autumnal

Brought to us by the adorable Chelsi Stratton! Chelsi is half of the mother-daughter team, Sherri & Chelsi! So much talent in one family!

#11, Block-Berry

By Jackie MacDonald of Sweetfire Road! Jackie is a new Moda designer, and her first fabric lines are wonderful.

If you’ve made it through this post, you’re in luck! Let’s do a giveaway of a few bundles of The Flower Farm fabric. You could win either a Fat Quarter Bundle or a Fat Eighth bundle! That’s right, I have one fat quarter bundle and two fat eighth bundles, so I’ll be choosing three winners! All you need to do to enter my drawing is leave a comment telling me something about a sew-along. Do you like them? Are there too many to choose from? Are you usually able to keep up, or do you get a few blocks done and then give up? Do you like a sew-along that makes a quilt, or do you prefer small monthly projects? Do you prefer a mix of applique and pieced blocks or a mixture of easy and more challenging pieced ones? You don’t have to answer all these questions. Just tell me anything that comes to mind. Tell me what you like or don’t like.

Here’s a photo of the Fat Quarter bundle I’m giving away (the crochet basket is not included because it was made by my husband’s grandmother).

I’ll be back on Friday to announce the winners!

Have a wonderful day!

Anne

I can’t believe it’s Friday already, can you?  It’s time to pick the winners of The Flower Farm fabrics!  I read through all of your comments, and most of you agree that it’s hard to keep motivated in a sew-along until completion.  Life gets in the way, you run out of time, you don’t know what fabric to use, etc.   I think we can all relate!  The hardest thing to do is to choose the fabrics.  For those of you who are struggling, I suggest starting with a fat quarter bundle, a fat eighth bundle, or a layer cake of a line you love.  You can always add to it, but you’ll know the fabrics work together, and you’ll have lights, mediums, and darks in your quilt.  So having said that, here are the three lucky winners:

F8th bundle goes to Terri W:  “I’m great at planning quilts, buying the fabrics (my own take on the originals!), and having everything I need to finish. I lose my “sewing mojo” sometimes after that point!! I like the short-lived sew-alongs that designers at Fort Worth fabric shop and others do (those I can finish up)”

F8th bundle goes to Donna:  “I like sew a longs but I try to be “picky” about which ones I choose because I have started and not finished some.  Thx for the chance to win the fabric.

The Fat Quarter bundle goes to Beth Reilly:  “I’m doing Moda Blockheads 4 too! I’ve never done a sew-along before and am having so much fun.  I love the shades of red,  white and pink in your blocks and thank you for a chance to win your beautiful fabric!🥰”

Congratulations ladies!  I’ll send each of you an email asking for your address so I can send your fabric bundle to you.  If you don’t get an email from me today please contact me using “contact” in the header above.  We’ve been having trouble with some emails not getting through.

I print out the patterns with the good intention of doing the quilt along.  I just don’t know where to start sometimes ;p

Glad I have  finally figured out HOW TO POST my comments when it asks for a URL. I have followed Blockheads # 1 through # 4 and all the blocks for these four years.  Glad you are a participant. My first post to your blog was lost as have been many others.

I enjoy the Sew Alongs, since I am not in a quilting group now, it inspires me.The more blocks , the better, I sometimes am behind but I catch up. I do love the mixture of appliqué and piecing. Love seeing everyone’s accomplishments, their color arrangements, their creativity.Love my quilting and all the designers who share their beautiful ideas. Thank you for the Sew Alongs.
