Block Eight Merry Merry Snow Days
You’ve had some extra time to catch up on Merry Merry Snowmen between blocks seven and eight. I’m sure you all took advantage of it right? If not, the good news is that this is an easy block! Hopefully, you have enough of this quilt done to sew some rows together. I find that once I can see the quilt blocks together, I’m inspired to keep going!
We’re onto block eight of Merry Merry Snow Days! The ski patrol is here! Tucked inside the sleigh is a first aid kit, and this snowman has been trained in CPR. He’s ready to help with any accidents that might happen on the slippery slope. I’ll let you in on a little secret; the racing llama in block number ten may need him!
Cut the two backgrounds and sew together. Go ahead and prepare all the applique pieces for this block. If you look closely at the picture below, you will see how the cross sign has been fussy cut. It’s such a little thing, but in the overall look of this quilt thing like this add up. I can’t say it enough; fussy cut whenever you can!
Trace the llama’s eye, nose, and mouth and use the 1/4″ bias for his legs. Aren’t you glad you made so much of this bias early on? It makes these skinny little legs go so quickly!
Trace the eyes, mouth, and buttons onto the snowman’s body. Place the background back over the pattern and center all the applique on the background. Pin or glue in place, and trace the sleigh runners, reins and snowman’s arms onto the background. Use a ruler to draw the snowman’s arms.
Now applique and embroider this block! We are moving along rapidly now! Only two more blocks to go!
