• Snow Happy Hearts for February

Are you ready for another heart pattern?  If you haven’t seen it yet, February’s heart is sweet as can be, and it’s just in time for Valentine’s Day!  We’ve used a bit of brown wool felt for the bird and his beak is a tiny satin stitch.  If you prefer you can make the bird from fabric.  Just applique with tiny stitches. Speaking of tiny stitches, there isn’t enough time in the day, or strength in my hands, to stitch all the samples I need.  I’m lucky to have some really good help.  I think some people are just born to stitch, and one of them lives right across the street from me.  Kim…

  • Inspirations

There are so many things that inspire and excite me.  All you have to do is look around, and you’ll find them too.  I get the most excited when one of you uses something I’ve designed, and takes it to the next level.  Maybe you use a different fabric, add a different touch, or you change it in a way that adds your own creativity.  It’s exciting! Lea Kagel took my Cape Cod Baby pattern and gave it a new look using blue and green fabrics.  She made it for a new mother-to-be and I think she may have already given it to her.  She was drawn to the pattern because…

  • Choosing Fabric for Snow Happy Hearts

It’s 8 days and counting until the next heart pattern is here.  I hope you’re excited!  Here’s a little hint for the Snow Happy Hearts  theme for February;  you can use it as a Valentine, and you may want to make more than one. Some of you have asked about the heart fabrics for the rest of the year.  Here’s what I’ve selected from Mistletoe Lane:  February is the pretty pink plaid at the top left, and December is the red snowflakes on the bottom right.  When you’re choosing fabrics, just make sure they look good together.  You may want to use them in a garland, or to decorate a tree.  If you like the look…

  • Snapshots Quilt-Along

If there’s one thing I like to be involved in, it’s something that helps fight cancer.  When The Fat Quarter shop asked me to join the Snapshots Quilt Along benefiting St. Jude’s I said yes, yes, yes!  Moda Fabrics is one of the sponsors so it’s off to a great start!   The blocks in this quilt are precious and make up such a cute, happy quilt. On the 15th of each month you’ll find a FREE pattern to make this adorable quilt on the Fat Quarter Shop blog.  You’ll also find a link to donate any amount you’d like, to the St. Jude campaign each month.  100% of the donations will…

  • Happy January 3rd!

Organizing in 2015 Just three days into the New Year and I can feel the excitement.  I’ve been reading so many good blog posts on how to get organized,  de-cluttered and make life simpler. My favorite posts have come from The Inspired Room. Melissa breaks everything down into doable things and she makes me want to get started right away.  I have to admit when I walked into our pantry this morning, I turned right around and walked back out.  I’m missing the one thing I need…a scheduled day to pull everything out and start over. And maybe a helper and bag carrier to assist.  It’s so much more fun to do…
