I Believe

I’ve believed in Santa, Snowmen and fairy tales since my earliest memories.  Where would the world be without Frosty the Snowman or stories of Santa at the North Pole?  Children believe, and are more than willing to share that innocence with us.  It’s a wonderful, whimsical feeling that makes us smile and feel young again.

I hope you’ll feel a bit of that magic when you look at “I Believe in Snowmen”!

You’ll find snowmen everywhere you look, and they’re ready to help you celebrate Christmas.  All it takes is a little monthly stitching and a touch of applique and you’ll have this quilt ready to share by December!

The quilting took by breath away when I saw it and I hope you get a glimpse of it in the closeups below. Before I sent it off to be quilted I studied vintage redwork quilts.  Two things became clear:  1.  Most of them were cross-hatched and 2.  All were quilted right across the embroidery.  It’s impossible to do otherwise, because you’d be stopping and starting all the time.   So we took guidance from these vintage quilt and cross hatched all the blocks.   My quilter, Nubin Jensen used her artistic skills to come up with different ways to cross hatch all these little blocks.  She deserves a blue ribbon for this quilt!  It’s a perfect combination of embroidery, applique and quilting and I think the quilting “makes” the quilt!

This reminds me of Christmas when I was a toddler. I had a red and white printed stocking (it looked like a real sock) and so did my twin sister. And those red rubber boots! Oh to be little again and enjoy all the wonders of that age. :)
