Books

On my iPad

I finished all of the JD Robb “In Death” series books.  Thanks to all of you, because I never would have known about this series if you hadn’t recommend it.   I read every single one, including her newest!  As far as I’m concerned J.D. Robb can’t write them fast enough.  Once you start with these books you can’t stop and now that I’ve finished them I’m going through withdrawal.

Currently on my iPad is a series of Louise Penny books, the chief inspector Gamache novels.  I started with “A Fatal Grace” (should have started with “Still Life” but didn’t know it was the first in the series) and almost gave up on the book because the first 4 chapters jumped around a bit too much for me.  It didn’t grab me until Gamache entered the story.  I’m enjoying the books and I’ll be reading”The Cruellest Month” on the plane to Portland.  There are more books in this series so I can keep going for awhile!   Again, I’d never have known about this series if  you hadn’t  recommended it.

I’ve created a section under “Categories” on the side column of my blog called “Books To Read”.  So many of you contributed to my reading list through your comments I thought I should save them for future reading.   What I didn’t realize is that once a post is listed under “Categories” the comments disappear and all of your suggestions are no longer there.

The good news is that I started a list from your suggestions and I saved it.  It’s in random order with some of your comments added in, so please forgive the layout.  If you search for a new books to read like I do, you’ll find suggestions in this PDF.

Books to read from my blog readers

If you’ve read something else that should be on the list, let me know.

Enjoy your week!

I just finished The Racketeer by John Grisham. Great book from beginning to end. Not quite half way through I thought I had it all figured out only to keep reading and learn I was wrong. I couldn’t put it down!

I can’t believe you got through them all so fast. I used to read that fast, now I fall asleep a lot. That happens when you reach 70. I have read 14 books. I also read Nora Roberts other novels in between. Congratulations I really enjoy all of her books. I have also started The Hunger Games series, I really enjoyed the first one and also the movie. Keep on reading it keeps our minds open.

Anne, some authors not on your list…and start with their first book: the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva (Allon is an Israeli spy, and I’m in love with him!), all of the Richard North Patterson novels (some have repeating characters, so start with the first-political thrillers that deal with modern problems), and Nevada Barr books – the main character is a National Park Ranger who solves mysteries at different parks (can’t remember her name!) I’m in the process of reading through the Patricia Cornwell books…I LOVE to read, especially mysteries…course I love Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden!
