Love those Jelly Rolls!
I’m in love with Jelly Rolls. There’s just something so dang sweet about them! Yesterday I went to the Moda web site and ta da! My favorite Jelly Rolls appeared! I was so surprised to see that Lily & Will were having coffee hot chocolate with Moda!
If you like to play with Jelly Rolls go to the Moda website for the new Jelly Roll Dream Challenge! Here’s your chance to design a Jelly Roll quilt and win big! Enter the contest and you might win a Janome sewing machine not to mention a lot of fame. It’s “sew” easy and so much fun! Remember you can download the fabric swatches for all the current lines on the Moda website then design away using graph paper or Electric Quilt.
I’m taking a little survey: Are you a “waste not, want not kind of quilter” or is “time well spent” more important to you? I have to admit I’m on the side of “time”. I’m the one who loves to use pre-cut cream and white jelly rolls! Forget cutting my own strips it’s just not for me. I want to open the package and start sewing. Which one are you? Tell me in the comments and you could win a cream jelly roll along with a Lily & Will Jelly Roll! I’ll tell you the winners on my next blog post! (There is no wrong or right answer so be honest.)
Back soon!

I am a waste not want not gal. I started sewing clothes when I was about twelve. My mom alway made me beautiful dreses and tops. I continued to make my own dresses and tops until I got fed up with pattern prices and ended up with ill fitting garments. I made plenty of dresses and outfits for my girls when they were litlle as well. I ventured into quilting as a means to use up scraps galore. scraps from garment sewing are some crazy leftovers of all kinds of shapes. Anyway I was amazed when I first attended a quilt show with my quilt friends and saw what was out there! I thought quilts were simply a means to use scraps! Boy have I gotten over that one! My quilt friends love to tease me about the scraps I continue to save. I love all the patterns now for charm squares, Jelly rolls and honey buns because I can utilize my scraps to the fullest. I have no problem whatsoever feeding my quilt disease but have actually put a moratorium on all fabric and pattern purchases until I catch up a bit…well I may need backing or some background fabric or binding….but for the MOSTPART 2011 is a year to enjoy all I have “gathered”. A great gal at a quilt shop in Kauai said it is not hoarding but as island women go to the hills
to “gather” flowers we “gather” fabric. I am currently organizing my stash. Over the last year I have started appliqué which is another reason to save scraps. You are partly to blame/thank for that one!!!! However working with precuts are a joy.

I think I have missed out on the whole jelly roll bandwagon–I have to try them—I hate to cut fabric—-and there are more fabric choices in the rolls===thanks for the chance to win …

I never used to use kits or precuts, but now I focus more on getting the project done. As my friend used to say, not everything we make is going to be in the Smithsonian so just get
started and make it. Good advice I think. Thanks for a chance to win a jelly roll.
