• Happy January 3rd!

Organizing in 2015 Just three days into the New Year and I can feel the excitement.  I’ve been reading so many good blog posts on how to get organized,  de-cluttered and make life simpler. My favorite posts have come from The Inspired Room. Melissa breaks everything down into doable things and she makes me want to get started right away.  I have to admit when I walked into our pantry this morning, I turned right around and walked back out.  I’m missing the one thing I need…a scheduled day to pull everything out and start over. And maybe a helper and bag carrier to assist.  It’s so much more fun to do…

  • Thankful

It’s that time of year again.  Thanksgiving, a day to give thanks for family, friends, and all the people who enrich our lives.  I love Thanksgiving, I love the tradition and I love cooking the feast.  I’m thankful that across the world my family in Germany enjoyed the same traditional food on their table.  Lily will grow up to know the tradition even if she doesn’t get the day off from school. I hope all of you are ready for turkey day and the start of the holiday season.  The holidays get crazier every year, but I hope you can find some time to relax and enjoy the days. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hugs,…

  • My family is here!

Guess who’s visiting? It’s my family from Germany and I’m just in heaven! My grand-daughter Lily just turned 3 and she chats away in both German and English. If she’s talking in German to me, I can say “Lily, tell Grandma in English” and she’ll translate. It’s amazing to see what children can do when they are raised with two languages.  Mon always speaks German to her and Dad speaks English.  She goes to an American/German pre-school and one teacher speaks German and the other speaks English.  Because she’s learned both languages at the same time she thinks nothing of it.   Every morning Lily and I take the dogs…

  • Stitching for a Cure

Yesterday was chemo day again and I spent the morning at the hospital with my daughter-in-law.  When I came home there was a package waiting for me from my friend Pauline. Just look at what she made using breast cancer fabric!  Exquisite little bags to hold sewing things, cosmetics or anything else we can dream up.  One for me and one for my daughter-in-law.  Can you believe how cute they are?  These are #7 & #8 that Pauline made using this special cancer fabric.  She’s “stitching for a cure”!   These are gifts to treasure… …made even more special because they were stitched by a friend.  Thank you Pauline! If…

  • Sunshine Lily

It’s time for the 2014 Fat quarter shop mystery quilt and I’ve designed a block for it!  I think you’re going to love this mystery quilt.  The fabric is beautiful and well, who doesn’t love star blocks?   Put the two together and you have the perfect mystery quilt. In case you haven’t signed up yet there’s still time.  You can find it at The Fat Quarter Shop.  The fabric is Snowbird from Laundry Basket Quilts and when I saw this fabric I fell in love.  It’s one of those fabric lines that says “you need me in your stash” LOL. Here’s a few peeks; Love those polka dots! Stars…
